  1. I will hate the merit system till the day I die. You would expect it to encourage NCO's to host good trainings for your battalion but if not implemented perfectly it just becomes something that the NCO core will hate because some people think that once you have hit the merit requirement it is an instant promotion. Also some battalions still use the old format for points, this just doesnt work. Recruits are alot harder to come by now and honestly bringing someone in that stays should be a very big deal. I fully believe in the TIG system as it works as a block for people trying to powerplay but if im being real I miss the days where once you hit SNCO it was up to you to do stuff and get noticed by your higher ups. Luckily my battalion still uses this old system. As an officer its nice to not have to look to see if they have logged enough shit to get promoted, if you do good and I (or any other officer) notices that youve been doing good then u get promoted. Its simple and easy. Basically the merit system is a micromanagment system that only benifits lazy officers who dont pay attention to their troops.

  2. Battalion: Shpack | Synr.gg RP Name: Commander Gree Date: 2/3/2022 Reason: It's been an entire year since I’ve joined synergy. It feels like yesterday when the legendary Technodad gave me a tryout for the 41st. My reason for leaving is nothing related to the people in this community, but my life has gotten increasingly more busy and I’ve lost the drive to play this game. Thankfully I can leave knowing I’ve helped grow a battalion of amazing people that value passive roleplay and those people can take care of what I’ve started. Goodbyes: @justuscloud5- Funny New York kid. You’ve been through a lot of shit on this server and you helped me grow as a person while teaching me how to be a leader. I wish you could’ve stayed behind to see how much I accomplished. Thank you. @Mavelle- I wish we could’ve hosted more events together. You were the only other GM that had the same mindset as me in terms of pushing passive RP and not trying to host lander events every 5 minutes. You were also the BEST BARRISS I could ever ask for :) @Baron- I can’t name a person who has proved me wrong as many times as you have. If it wasn’t for you I would’ve become an awful leader and I probably would’ve been removed for the dumb ideas I had. Thank you for helping me reach my goal. @BigIron- It blows my mind that you’ve been on synergy for as long as you have, thank you for always being there when we needed you. @Goda- You have a bright future on this server, I wish I could’ve taught you more but I think you’ll do great without any advice in command. @SEXICO- Dawg I still remember walking up to you while you were a 21st lmao. Crazy to think you’d end up as the best XO and leader of Improcco a green guy could ask for, I hope you go far in life and that we keep in touch bro. @Stockings- You’ve been a really chill person and a great leader, I had a great time working alongside you during Clouds term. @Katy- Best luminara I’ve ever seen. Working alongside you and Mavelle in Jedi was one of the most enjoyable things while I was Gree. I couldn’t ask for a better Senior Officer and I hope you achieve great heights in the Jedi Order. @Dono- I wish you the best of luck in the 41st. We’ve been working to make the battalion a better place for an entire year now. I can only imagine what awesome stuff you’ll do once I’m gone. Thank you for all you’ve helped me with. I couldn’t ask for a more trustworthy friend on Synergy. @Tinovious- Dude I fuckin love you, ur funny af and I hope things are better in your life. Watching you resign was one of the toughest moments in my time as a commander. I’m glad to have met you and I hope we keep in touch. @Batdog- I hope college treats you well bro. Thank you for being such an easy, and friendly person to work with. @Evans- The commander I never had. You did so much work in the battalion and I can't thank you enough for it. @NaquisAKANuKwah- I know you’ll get far in the 41st, you’re an outstanding officer and a great friend. Thank you for always brightening the TS channel with your personality. @bunky- pipe down runt @bruise You've been a AWESOME gm partner, I wish we could've done more cool shit together

  5. I agree with both sides of the coin here, but not being promoted for 35 days as an NCO because of a lack of merits physically hurts and makes me want to stop playing the server. It makes doing things I used to love painful and boring. I agree it’s needed to encourage NCOs and train officers, I just wish officers could ignore them when someone has been putting in effort and role playing well.

  6. Unfortunately, you lost the privilege to having a shorter ban, when you've recently come back from your 2nd permanent ban less than 3 months ago. This also wasn't a minor offense with you telling someone you have their IP and are going to find them and kill them... We take those accusations very seriously which you would already know from your previous bans. You have been added to the community ban list, meaning you will need to take some time away, and when you feel you have matured, you must contact Founders to set up a conversation for you to be allowed to appeal your ban again. We gave you the chance and an opportunity for a fresh start for the 2nd time, and you chose to ruin it again. Now you must face the consequences of your actions.

  8. this gives me 501st vibes from 2017 anyways merits are only an excuse for officers not to be active and just check of the roster who did shit. They only mean something when a battalion is in a bad state and officers dont have a chance to experience and witness acts of their soldiers.

  9. In my mind, an important part of a GOOD merit system is that all aspects of it are clearly defined for the NCOs that are working with it. Simple things like making sure NCOs are aware that, in merit systems, obtaining all of your merits doesn't guarantee you a promotion are the responsibility of the officer corps in a battalion. Something like a TIG system won't work well as it allows people to idly sit by and be promoted without doing anything, as well as easily allowing for favoritism. Having a well-managed system that is changed at the needs of the battalion through suggestions or the work of the Officers in a batt makes sure that everyone going through the system is given the same equal opportunities for promotion as everyone around them. As for the part about lazy officers, that's just how it happens with merit systems that are poorly maintained. A good merit system is one that also has good officers, where they don't rely on the merit system, but use it as a general gauge as to how much work they've done; not the quality of work done. Even with the merit system, Officers still have the responsibility of making sure that NCOs aren't abusing it and that NCOs are keeping up the battalion's standard of quality. It's not hard to make a merit system that is good and encourages NCOs to do good work. You just need to first make sure your Officer corps is willing to do their job. A merit system isn't perfect for every battalion, but works very well for the battalions that want structure to support the battalion.

  10. I have a quick few questions before I rate but I am very leaning towards +1ing. Question 1: what are some things you are going to do to improve the maturity of the battalion. (Since coming back to the server I have seen a lot of very loose behavior and mingey behavior from people with lore character names and it seems it was kind of “encouraged”. Not particularly encouraged but you wouldn’t particularly get punished or anything) Question 2: A consistent problem I have seen within 41st was the promotion requirements because there was never really a merit system to track this type of thing. I feel like players were just promoted for being active but not doing that much work. What are your thoughts on implementing a merit system to encourage NCO’s to do work and get recognized for it while also progressing in the battalion? Question 3: I personally think another problem that runs with the 41st is the infrastructure, do you have any plans to improve on this and to keep a populated and stable officer core? Question 4: Do you plan on making Improcco more of an Elite Branch of the battalion? Or do you have any plans to change this Sub Unit? EDIT: After speaking with Dono I am +1ing! Goodluck!

  11. +1 Dono was a commander under me during my time as gree and was the real strong arm of the law. The attack dog that did every job with excellence and with just the amount of finesse to make it go perfectly. I'm glad he's finally going for this. Let's hope for a streak of 3 good Grees. And not a continuation of 1 or 2 good grees and a string of bad ones.

  15. +1 solid guy with a clear passion for improvement. i've seen him grow alot on a personal level during my time working with him and I think he has worked into a quality leader. Only concern is this man is juggling like 5 positions. but you have addressed that and i know you have the maturity to step down from other roles should your responsibilities get too demanding

  18. 1. This is my plan for 41st to be reconnaisance.I want others to know 41st likes recon missions. The plan to get people that deploy us to recon missions time to time.If i get this position or not im going to try to get 41st in some reconnaisance missions. If i had the power i will host events for others and 41st that likes things in roleplay wise and more things example recon. It was a dupe on endor that shpack made for us to practice recon which people like. 2. Im not going destroy people having fun on the server.I just want everyone act serious when its necessary.Example some people think 41st is a minge battalion.I dont want everyone to think that we are some minges. But when we have to serious we will.Everyone likes having fun sometimes even i do,Everyone in a 41st is like a family. Sorry Batdog for not saying much. I can explain more in TS If you have anymore questions Just let me know!!

  20. +1 A few months ago I said I would have actually ran against you for Gree because I felt like you wouldn't be good for the position. Obviously now after working with you on various things across the server, I think the very opposite. You have a lot of experience on the server/41st and your work drive is insane. You're very easy and fun to work with. We've shared similar frustrations with how 41st sometimes operates and makes decisions (or a lack of decisions), so I know that you have the best intentions and will trust you to lead 41st into something better

  23. 1: My plans with the 41st is to implement more meetings where ncos, SNCOs and officers get together to thoroughly discuss suggestions and improvements to the battalion. I don’t want anyone to feel that their opinion is being completely discarded because of their position. I have a very good understanding of what it feels like to have what you think is an amazing idea to only be faced with absolute rejection and 0 room for consideration. I will not allow anyone in the battalion to feel that their opinion is insignificant. 2: my plan to fix the minge ness is to become more strict on the office corp and mandate from the top-down more seriousness when it’s needed. Often times officers allow thing to go too far and I believe we need to start there. I do not want people to stop having fun, I only want to see more maturity when it’s important. The line in the sand is becoming muddled and a large fault is on the officers being too lax.

  25. The only good merit systems I've seen is the one in 212th and that took a long time to develop and iron out and it will also never be perfect (such is the way with a system like that). I have however seen an objectively bad merit system and it was the one for Jedi that was required of you to get Master and the 10 knight ranks that came with it. Worst idea I have ever seen

  34. The separation between EC and GC isn’t exactly a negative one. It just provides people the ability to choose to join GC who are more rp focused. My plan is to push GC as a more instructive sub unit where ncos in the subunit are training EC troopers, allowing EC to grow. The battalion does not want to change to a fully serious system, that’s not the 41st at all. My plan is to continue our mentality of staying lax when possible and serious when needed.

  35. I'll be honest, I miss the days of MERIT actually meaning what the word means. Not menial tasks that have to be done before you can move forward. This has been a big reason why people are turned off from doing activities, trainings, etc. Because they feel like it's a job rather than something for people to enjoy. All Promotions that I have ever done was based on the person earning them. Not by spamming tryouts, trials, activities, etc. I shouldn't have to have promotional guidelines such as "3 Recruits, 2 Activities, 4 Event Leads for SFC", people who deserve to move up will prove so by being a Leader, or an active member of the battalion/group by promoting roleplay. Not everything needs to have a strict measurement, sometimes you have to be able to judge not only the work you can see but the intangibles like work ethic, leadership, etc.

  38. +1 ayo people saying maturity is a reason to -1 an app are dumb bro, we had some dumb ass people get staff and yet they turned out doing great things. Give people a chance rather than saying fuck off. If we did that to ever person who was not mature we would not had some great HAs, and Great Game Masters.
