  1. The state of roleplay has improved a bit owed to the fact that were have leaders who genuinely do give a shit about it now. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't be actually surprised if there was passive RP still going on, but it was isolated from the rest of the server in some way. Because the way I see it is that people either just aren't doing it at all and will always need that push or are doing it but only with their battalions and squads. I think this concept of familiarity is something that may be widespread on the server because... for some reason... we may have people who think that people will call them cringe if they take to public comms RP or RP in open spaces. If that's the case, it may a problem with the world in general since no one is allowed to be passionate about anything without being called cringe. And I do know this was a mentality on the server before so maybe, if this is occurring, it was hammered into their skulls that open RP is cringe and thus they don't want to do it out of fear of being considered such. Even on a roleplay server. It also makes me develop this new theory that it's maybe less of a question of encouraging passive RP and more encouraging people to come out of their shell and validate them for enjoying the passtime that the server was made for.
  2. Legendary Game Master with a high standard for quality not often seen. Never interacted with you much, but I hope this is just another hiatus and you come back for more one day. Until next time.
  3. Lots to unpack here, experiencing mixed emotions that took me like a day to really consider. Was talking to a friend about this, and honestly I'm inclined to agree that you were definitely a net positive for the community. The fact that people are missing you already says a lot and I can see why they will. For me, you had your insufferable moments and I certainly disagreed with many of your outlooks. But damn, I'd be an idiot to say that you didn't have the passion and personality that a lot of people on this stupid game just don't have anymore. Looking back, our disagreements never became uncivil, and you managed to keep a cool head up for the longest time. I'll be honest man, I really do envy the patience. I genuinely dislike maybe 1 or 2 people here (the rest just kind of annoy me at best), and you skated along the line a few times but always managed to bounce back for me. You're a good dude, Bacta and hella funny too. Still have memories of your time as Count Dooku and I'll say that I meant everything I said about that. I genuinely became excited every time I saw that "/advert Republic dogs..." Good shit. Legitimate loss to Synergy, although I know people don't tend to stay away forever.. still gonna suck for the time you're not here! Nice knowing you, my BAF (Best Acquaintance Forever).
  4. -1 I'd take the Fortnite dances over this.
  5. 2/3/4 The gameplay was just shooting zombies for the most part and really fell off towards the end because, while I do think it was fun for the people involved, the event was taken to an isolated area and there was no attempt to keep the rest of the base entertained. The overuse of fast zombies (and especially their headcrabs) was also very annoying because fast headcrabs are literally the worst with their janky hurtboxes. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about the second part, because I've personally been criticized for it so I know how bad it could be for everyone else. Other than the Jedi towards the end who switched to the zombie model (which I don't think you were even involved with because the event ended before that concluded), I didn't see anything happening in an easily accessible area. I did however like how you made the zombies attack different points, but you could have also benefited from having them attack different points at once to make us divide our forces. Care and effort certainly had its lingering effects, since there was a clear attempt at a story and everything at least made sense. I feel like I'd be willing to give this a higher rating if I knew what was going on. I saw some statue in the sky with batwings and I have no freaking clue what that was for. Finally, there was some lag. Not bad enough to take away from the event, but noticeable nonetheless.
  6. 4/4/4 Gameplay was great, a well-done shoot-'em-up with a clear objective. You had plenty of enemy variety and mixed in the NPC bases to bolster performance. My only complaint with the gameplay is that the setup was kind of bland (the briefing) but this isn't bad in any sense because you laid out the goal clearly. Could've helped to ask questions but stinky Deku said no questions. Can't believe him, what a nerd! Care and effort is very good too because you were quick to respond with tickets, paid close attention to what was going on, and your dupe building is excellent as always. I do wish that the others could have gotten involved in the boarding as well but... eh, that's more my fault for jetpacking up instead of staying with the group. I didn't wait and I really should have. Performance was near-perfect, but I experienced some stuttering and the lag was certainly present. But it wasn't anywhere near terrible. You do great work as always, Unkindled. Always excited to see you do events.
  7. 5/4/5 A very unique idea that was executed cleanly. I really enjoyed taking part in this, and I'm certain that everyone else did too. I'm glad that you were willing to more or less improv the shark costume thing, the characters were played very well, and the clues were cohesive enough for even the smallest of brains. You put in a lot of care and effort. Your performance as the characters was very good, your event jobs seemed coordinated and you seemed to have a good grasp on where exactly you were going with your ideas. You managed to do it without any NPC's, utilized the map to it's fullest extent, and adjusted instead of getting frustrated--people would be lucky to have a GM like you for things like deployments! My only complaint is that the Detective seemed kind of pointless, but I'm willing to wager that he was there in case we got stuck to sort of edge us along? You're free to correct me otherwise. Finally, the small scale of the event yielded no performance issues.
  8. 2/4/1 The gameplay was... interesting... all things considered. A lot of people weren't fans of the player droids, and I was more or less in that camp. I didn't mind that all that much alone, but they spawned too fast (aside from the one person using the CIS shotgun, I think that's everyone's actual problem with them). I would have maybe considered placing their tacs far away or having you drop them at a random spot. This would ensure that they would have to run a distance to engage the players, make them value their life a little more, and make them avoid being a nuisance while we tried to cap the points. The capping itself was nice but your EJs slowed things down a lot. I also think that in the future they should avoid jumping into Republic tanks as, even though some were left unattended, it would have given so much needed leeway. Care and effort, loved the dupes, loved your system, and loved how quickly you were able to set up. I also liked how quickly you and helpers responded to tickets whenever needed. I'd love to see you do this again in the future! Performance had two server crashes but the third attempt wasn't giving any issues that I felt.

    Ironhand Drop 1

4/4/5 Gameplay wasn't unique, but it had a clear objective at least on the bounty hunter side and the enemies were decently fun to fight in terms of health and weaponry. "Care" was decent, but I could tell by the way you actively kept in contact with the players as your character that you put in the effort for sure. Keep up the interactions with the players to keep them engaged, I love to see it. Performance didn't suffer at all.
  10. +1 I mean... I guess? But it'd be simpler if you guys just didn't arrest for accidents with them. That's the equivalent of someone running in front of a vehicle and claiming VRDM. If they do it on purpose, sure... but you can just let accidents like that slide. Back when we were more serious I'd be all for this and have done it in the past, but just because we're edging back into "seriousness" now doesn't mean we have to go all out. I'm supporting this on the principle that it could disrupt events, since EJs could be killed like this and GMs probably wouldn't be a fan of that.
  11. Well, you yourself said that I shouldn't be afraid of sharing my opinions in this post so... here goes. I'll preface this with the fact that I don't dislike you for what you did, nor do I have any sort of skewed perception of you because of it. But I am disappointed. I'm disappointed that I asked about this exact situation in your application and you seemed to still maintain that level of enthusiasm that it would be different from your Fox term. It was, I think you did fine with what you managed to accomplish. I'm sad to see that the enthusiasm didn't continue to carry over, and the timing of this is just putting me (and I imagine others as well) in an awkward situation since it wasn't just you that ditched. That's on the structure of Rancor for constantly putting all of their eggs in one basket, but it doesn't make this any less unfortunate. You had big plans and drive, but not the resolve to see it through--and I'm really disappointed in that fact. Still, hope to see you around. I will say that people seem to be annoyed with this, but hopefully that'll change sooner than later. Take it easy.
  12. 4/4/5 Gameplay was unique and so was the interaction between you and the players. It seems that you did very well keeping up with the people in spite of there being quite the presence, which says a lot about how you were able to keep people engaged. The puzzles proved that big brain stuff just isn't our style, so in that respect it was very funny to see! I do wish that in moments where there was combat that you kept up the variety. You spawned regular zombies at the start, then fast, and then the ranged enemies. From the on it was just the fast zombies, even at the end. But I won't really fault you too much for that since it was only you keeping up. Care and effort was a similar story in which you did a lot with very little. I found that very impressive on how you had your idea and carried it out very nicely. No performance issues.

    A Curious Quarren

4/3/5 It was a decent shoot-'em-up that was multi-staged and kept everyone on their feet. No real complaints other than enemy variety and weapon choice since they all used T-21s, but it proved to not be as bad. Care and effort I'll give a three because the event jobs roleplayed in IR, you utilized the map pretty well, and you attacked multiple portions of the base. My biggest complaint was the use of the intercom. What I thought was a one-off gag went way too far and it wasn't cordial to the ARC trainings being hosted at the time (yeah, yeah Rancor whining about trainings). I didn't find the EJ or anyone involved really annoying, just use of the intercom going way too far. The explosion at the end wasn't your fault so I won't whine about that. No performance issues.
  14. +1 I don't usually vote on staff apps. But this guys is legendary. I want him back.
  15. +1 ALL DAY He's hardworking, dedicated, and easily approachable. Also has the experience. He'll do well.
  16. 5/4/5 Ever since I saw the shady forests of this map, I've wanted to see someone do an event like this. And this was done really well since it was very tense both alone and in a group. Very much enjoyed this, thank you. You did a lot with practically nothing. No real complaints on the care and effort. No performance issues.
  17. 1/3/2 The gameplay wasn't that good, even for a shoot-'em-up. I didn't actually mind the use of the new NPCs, but there were points in which there were far too many spawned--likely to compensate for the sheer amount of players that showed up. There wasn't that much of an objective either, a document was there but there was no real attempt to keep things rolling. For the most part, people are able to do it themselves with the limited knowledge given--but you need that engagement via roleplay and I feel this really suffered because of it. It eventually boiled down to just a shoot-'em-up when you had a decent roleplay premise at the start, something you didn't do anything with for the most part. Maybe some hostile event jobs acting as prison guards? Perhaps you should limit vehicles far more than you allowed as well, as there were a ton out all at once and that may have severely hindered the performance alongside the new NPCs and the lag that comes with them. Care and effort is something that I think people can cut you slack for since you said you had technical difficulties with the dupes. There was a clear attempt to save it with the orbital engagement, the props you actually did have lying around, and the fact that you and the helper (which I think you severely needed more of) were really fast with response time. However, the orbital engagement got grating with the sounds of turbolasers going off constantly, the enemy variety plummeted when you were at first mixing B1s and Commandos and then just started spawning B2s everywhere. I did see you in comms once or twice but it seemed as if you really struggled to adapt to the problems you faced when developing this event. The performance is a 2 because the only thing I'd consider a 1 is a full-on server crash. It was laggy, I client crashed once, and the map itself was very unoptimized. I know you're capable of making great events, and I think a lot of these problems could have been mitigated had you received more help and spent more time developing the idea (which I understand wasn't your fault entirely). Maybe also split the teams up? One group could have been the POWs and the others could have been the rescue squad. I'd actually like to see this event tried again but with more polish since the potential is there, it just failed to meet it.
  18. 3/4/5 Gameplay was a shoot-'em-up, nothing too spectacular. There wasn't much variation of droids until the end where the Supers came out. I also liked how you were able to one-shot the Tac Droid, and he was more or less designed to be the important assassination target than just another combat NPC. Care and effort would be 3 normally, but I'm awarding a 4 purely based off of the fact that you hosted it at such odd hours. GM's who are willing to do that are few and far between, which means there's definitely some care in it regardless of the fact that it was mostly sprinkled props and NPCs. Finally, no lag. Perfect performance.
  19. +1 It's about time. You've had the qualities of a BCMD for a long time, so I'm glad you're giving it a shot.
  20. I don't think that RP can be serious to full/complete capacity because I've witnessed firsthand how skewed the mentality of "serious roleplayers" can get on both this server and others (myself included since I've made mistakes in pursuit of this). It would require a complete overhaul from how the people up top act because they're either apathetic or participating in minging themselves. At the very least, I think that someone could start with these three specific things to get things under some semblance of "order" again. 1. Make Coruscant Guard and Temple Guard actually enforce the rules and discipline them if they neglect to do so because they signed up for it. I'm not saying you have to demote or remove them, just talk to them and tell them how to do their jobs. 2. Take RDM more seriously. I shouldn't be able to set someone on fire in a public area and get away with it. 3. Stop talking in debrief. There's a designated speaker and you can save your attempt at being funny for the PTS section. Two out of three of these things are very simple and things people can start doing immediately, and in general would improve the roleplay experience. I don't care if people b-hop, goof around, or jetpack all over the place. I just think that there's a time and a place for everything.
  21. Something I feel you should know before you get into these kind of things, you can't eliminate bias. It's an ever-prevalent factor that's always going to be looming over you in some shape or form, and to claim you can eliminate it is very improbable. The position of Yoda has you running an entire faction in which various people will be in and out of on a regular basis, and from what I know (being good friends with two different past Yoda's and listening to the rants of several masters) it can get really, really stressful and people will test your patience constantly. My recommendation for you is to get people beneath that can make up for your shortcomings. The reality is that you can be presumptuous and you can have this mentality that people are out to get you, but you also have very promising strengths demonstrated by the fact that you're willing to talk with just about anyone and the few interactions I've had with you have shown you to be a very nice, approachable person overall--not to mention, you actually have pretty decent ideas. Play to your strengths and don't be afraid to get help for your weaknesses. +1 I think you should at least have a chance at the interview. If the big men don't see you as fit for the position, then use it as an opportunity to address concerns that others may have. Good luck to you.
  22. The king of resignations strikes again.
  23. Enjoy retirement, man. Have great memories with you from SOBDE times and while we had our ups and downs, you certainly got far and that's very commendable. Thank you for your service, hope to see you around at those game nights!
  24. 4/3/5 Gameplay, for a shoot-'em-up, was well thought out. I like that you had the mechanic planned around the Tactical Droid and the negotiations were well-done as well... probably would have been better if the Tactical Droid could talk, but that's not your fault! The enemy variety was also welcomed and nice. I could tell you put a lot of effort into the various set pieces and it shines, but while effort is definitely there, I'm going to say that you could have been a bit more careful with the droids spawns as there was at least one instance of droids being in the ground. I also wish you utilized hostile event jobs to keep us on our toes. I am very happy with how quickly you responded to tickets, however. Very diligent. Lastly, performance was perfect. Thanks to Appo and you for letting me deploy alongside 501st!

    spec deployment

4/4/5 Gameplay is solid. It was a shoot-'em-up, but a damn good one. The only thing I could have asked for more on the Rancor side is maybe more enemy variety than just the B1's, although I did like how you helped them be a tad more difficult with the way they blended in to the snow environment. You were also very responsive to the RP stuff you set up, and managed to keep the objectives clear even when faced with disruptions in the briefing. Care and effort I'm going to happily award with a 4. I can't stress how layered this was with the dupes, the logs, and the fact that you actually utilized the 41st for their recon and let that have an actual impact on the portion in which SOBDE and us ARC troopers rolled on in. The option to have music was a nice touch as well, and it's clear to me that you knew which direction you wanted the event to go. Honestly, the only major criticism I have was the spawning of droids on top of the Rancor that were attempting to stray. I immediately understood why you did it, but I think you should have at least given them a chance to react and realize that they were being dumb. Like with the Alphas that decided that they wanted to do a leap of faith into the droids in the compound, I felt that they were decently punished for attempting to lone wolf it by being gunned down in an instant, and I think that should have been reflected in how you handled keeping us together. Finally, I experienced no server problems so performance was perfect. Bird stinks.
