Heavy Shield for Havoc Squad

Suggestion: Adding the Heavy Shield to all the HS jobs. Now before you vote there is 3 shields on the server and only one of those 3 shields are being used at the moment. Now utilizing the Heavy shield in my opinion would make more sense for HS since they're heavily focused on Breach and Clearing and EOD. The Heavy Shield is used for being in the front and cannot be placed. Instead of it being placed it can breach open Dark RP map doors(Used of Event Server Maybe). 

Implementation: Adding Heavy Shield to all the HS Jobs ( Brimstone, Gambit, Lancer, Pipes, Crush, Bandit, Acid, and Locke).

Workshop content if applicable: Already on the server. Listed under Weapons and called "heavy_shield"

Wait... wasn’t one of the original deals with Havoc Squad was that they don’t get shields like the rest of DU?

Now I know that has been said in the past and previously I have talked with Brimstone and Willy about making HS a bit more unique, although they're made up lore and they are already unique by being fan made lore, but people who just join the server don't know what and even if we tell them that. It seems to be more of a down grade to join Havoc Squad instead of being in DU since you don't have the shield that you wanted upon joining Doom's Unit, it just seems that people are becoming someone with a name and different model. So with all of that being said adding something to the jobs would make HS a bit more useful.

I don’t see how this makes them unique if the battalion they’re apart of already has it. The models and names is what make them unique. They’re the elite unit within DU. Not just frontline troopers with shields.

Havoc Squad was such a controversial part of the server when they were being suggested and one of the deals that were made so they could be added was that they didn’t get shields and z6s like the rest of DU. I personally think they’re pretty cool and unique as is besides their piss visors however I will have to go with a -1

I believe the original agreement for their addition to the server should be upheld, sorry.

I understand your reasoning, the main purpose is that the heavy shields do not get used and they can't be set down, which means they shouldn't be used on frontlines, but since the sub unit is breach and clear centered, it makes sense to give something that helps in breaching and clearing. the shield has curved edges on it unlike its deployable counterpart, making it better for covering and doing close quarters combat.

Personally since we don't have z6s for all DU classes anymore, I believe the agreements have changed. As well if this is an issue of agreements with the server, I believe that we have been talking with high command regarding it this suggestion for the past weeks.

I may be biased, but I am +1ing this as I have not seen much uniqueness for HS and this would help them with breach and clear tactics.

Idk, I could see this going to maybe one member of the squad, like whoever the Heavy is, but the entire squad having shields? Idk about that tbh.

Yet that is something that has come up when discussing what we were going to do before putting out the suggestion. But then that always leaves out the ones who doesn't have the shield, to cause jobs to go left out and people not going for them. The thing we are trying to get at is a have full and better running Havoc Squad, we can't do that with having a very basic loadout of course and that is what we are hitting at. I appreciate your comments and concerns.

Ive been in DU for about a month now not once have I wanted to join Havoc, this is because of there extremely bland loadouts. I feel like Havoc should stand out amongst the other members of the battalion and still represent DU.  +1

Now  I don't want to cluster this with just comments  but I would just like to add that these shield are different in a way to benefit the Squad. Not only that but using what was given to us on the server. Some people don't understand that Havoc Squad is fan made and don't see that as unique, as the server grows some people will not care about that fact. Now I understand we basically stated that we would not have shields in HS, but things change and it's been a year or so and people won't join the Squad nor will people stay and will just go back to regular DU. Having the new shields will make it seem like we have a promising Sub-unit within the battalion that makes people want to constantly try for a position.

-1, I was going to look for the actual suggestion but it appeared to be wipe. From what I can tell from the last part of the sentence there is no need for HS to get shields, as this suggestion contradicts the whole point of the original suggestion.

+1. Could someone please clarify the original deal that was made to allow HS's addition to the server? From what I understand, compromises were made because every DU trooper had the Z6 and the shield. 

Currently, the normal DU trooper receives a shield to set it apart from other battalion troops. No Z-6. Additionally, DU has no JT sub-branch, only a Havoc Squad member that has a jetpack (lancer). Every other battalion on the server has JTs. 

If I understand the original intent behind the compromise, it was to ensure DU did not get too much to set it apart. However, with the removal of the Z-6 from the regular trooper whitelists, I see us as having come out of this "deal" much worse off than when we came in. If things can change and our loadouts can be stripped of an essential function, can they not change similarly to give us something in return?

Between the changes in loadouts, the addition of completely new and custom models, and even the initial introduction of the Squad. I don't think y'all need anything more to make you unique. Your bunch is basically a Green Wolfpack at this point except not everyone has jetpacks. -1

Maybe change the suggestion to take the shields away from normal DU to open them up for your fanon squad and then I'll start to thinking about changing my vote to a +1. As this suggestion and the battalion sits, the squad shouldn't exist and this suggestion gets a -1 from me, primarily for balance reasons and it goes against the agreement to get them added in the first place.

-1 I can’t believe I’m saying this I agree with comics 

as the original creator of havoc squad the point was to use their mobility so having shield would slow them down. The squad should be a run and gun style a major change from the slow slug it out style of normal du. 
 

yes it’s fannon and made up but it’s completely going against the point of adding the squad in the first place.

+1 as the current Brimstone I will have to say this is a great addition to our loadout. The Heavy Shield isn't place able and will be purely used for us still breaching clear quicker then our counterparts in DU. We don't got an amazing loadouts like most other Sub-Units do. We mostly just have DC-15a and s as well as some other decent addons, but still we could use this shield to help us better our mobility at doing CQC faster and safer. If you aren't apart of HS then you really and truly won't see it from out standpoint. We need shields to help us be better at clearing and being safer in events and deployments!

Just to clarify with things we have never gotten kits reworked. We have the basic load outs like every other trooper. And as I stated before, things change and that is one thing that we are trying to change. Just because one year ago we made a statement of “no shields” doesn’t mean things don’t change. Havoc Squad has been suffering in DU and has been struggling for sometime. It’s one of the little things that has been very hard to fix in DU. The only way we can help it is bringing new things to the table.

I mean I could be wrong about this, but if I check out the Havoc Squad TS Channel it shows that every named character is taken?  If it's struggling then why would every position be filled?

-1 Regardless, I think if the original creator has an issue with it then I don't think this should be implemented.

Shields won't fix that, only leadership will


Since I'm not involved in DU I will stay out of this as far as an opinion.
As far as i'm aware Havoc squad is meant to be for fast response, I don't see how shields help with that.

It’s not that it’s keeping people in positions. For example, we haven’t had a Locke stay in that position for more than 2 weeks, we haven’t had a crush be actively on for the past 2 weeks, etc. we need to hype HS more instead of fannon

Not only is Dennis against it,  but I recall when HS was put in that past founders said that adding shields to some of the JT jobs was downright "cancer".

You guys almost had a dude commissioned for models.  Why not try again considering Forseen and the other might be willing to accept it now.

You could try and just ask for a small speed boost, probably get denied but makes sense if you want them to be faster.

Havoc Squad stand out by being the troops in DU without shields. They get their models and their jobs and stuff and that should be enough.
You shouldn't rely on your kit on getting members, it should be people being actually interested in your squad and wanting to join it who get in.

I know nothing about this deal people are talking about. But if you are breach and clear and want shield help when breaching just ask normal du to do it through the magic of *Teamwork*
