Map rotation.

If we were to start a map rotation what maps would you guys want to go to and what things would you guys like to see? The big question is what map you guys would wanna rotate to though.

-Continuation: My thoughts is I personally don’t think we should switch to a ship/Venator map they usually become very boring and stale quickly. Events are usually played out and identical every time. If we were going to switch I would recommend another planet we are “Deployed” to temporarily to assist in the battle by the chancellor. Doing these map switches should be a big planned out thing with the GM team to get things hyped up and to have players enjoy the switch. We can always look for maps that we haven’t been to before. I personally think also we should get a set dupe for whatever planet we switch to, to instantly have everything set up. Think carefully about what you choose

I think if we were to do rotations it should be quarterly throughout the year and that the maps should be diverse like I would hate to go from our current map to another annexes variant i think different styled maps would be important ships different planets ect.

 

Truth is any map long term gets boring but now with the BH faction (like the sith previously) wouldn't translate to a single ship so if we were to have a ship map we'd have to have either two or three ships or a large space station

I don’t know where people get the notion that venator events are any different then base events... either way you end up with very similar events in the form of shoot em ups. 

Venator life was so much better back then. The server didn’t feel lifeless in 90% of f the areas on the map because it was small enough for constant interactions with other players and big enough for plenty of different role playing areas.

I think events took more effort on venators. Yeah you’d get a lot of the “sky gate got blown open and droids are swarming MHB!” type of shoot em up events but it’s literally the exact same on the base. “Oh there’s a lander above courtyard dropping droids into the base!” However roleplay orientated events were pristine back on extensive at least. Events where GMs built other ships for the players to board and explore and talk to the crew etc. Infection events actually played out some what fine back then. Literally haven’t seen a good infection event since extensive minus rakghoul events on Endor which didn’t last long.

Idk maybe events felt better to me back then because there weren’t so many cancer ways for players to make them bad as well. However venators don’t deserve the hate they get for the reasons people always bring up. Also I’m pretty sure they said no to map rotation a while back. It’s been tried so many times now.

Now hear me out I know we just switched off the map but I think just a little bit of time on titan would actually be kinda good, one thing that made the map good was how small the actual base was stuff was always happening it felt like there was never a dull moment, the only problem with that map in my opinion was the outside and some of the planets the base was the perfect size it felt like because of how close everything was but the outside parts were almost always annoying

Id say the best way to get rotations done is to have custom maps for the server itself, theres some uniqueness to the server that would require a certain map cause of BHs and shit,  if i were to choose a map itd be the following

I love that map a lot, just small base imo, but a totally new environment to synergy. Also love the teleport cave system. I think extensive is good for rotations no cap.

Just in case it hasn't been said, one of the big reasons we don't do rotation is because it's pretty space consuming to have 2 maps saved with all their perma props added on top

So the solution would be every rotation to have to re perma prop everything, which is the most annoying thing to ever have to do


I love venators, like all old frogs. But this has been said so many times and it always comes to the same conclusion.
It's just not usually a viable option 
the only way to have a base rotation is if we have multiple bases on 1 map, but that's a lot of mullah 

Venators are great for RP, Naval, & keeping people moving about the ship. I've always prefered venators and always will.
But new frogs just love muh base map so I really don't think it's worth having this conversation for the 10 millionth time

I hear 24/7 in my time on the server how good and cool the old maps were its 100% nostalgia but i think in a server management side it could be used for the betterment of the server.

to me i think every 2 months we can have 1 week of going to those retro maps  my main reason with this is i believe it will increase server pop with "boomers" from the community coming back to relive that, with this it avoid repetition and will excite the player base. But thats my immediate idea from a GM perspective it would be awesome having these  like what Marvel said doing main server events on a venator would challenge GMS.

 

My peak with my gming career was when the event server was down I had to make due with 2-3 maps and I hosted some of my favorite things there because that's all I had and it helped me a lot, I think it genuinely could be beneficial and at least it should be tried at least once just to see

I love Venator, too new to have every used it as a main base, would love to try it sometime but I don't think a map rotation is feasible. Maybe a huge 1 week long event thing where we are constantly on a Venator and people are constantly getting deployed.
