  2. Fond Memory as etain. If @Tecever drops etain I’ll drop everything to do it again.
  3. I know exactly what I’m doing for my first event im gonna tp you randomly into a giant maze with this all over. Good luck
  4. For the record, it was on the lips and with tongue. Still my best experience ever here on synergy.
  5. Oh now we’re going to have to do a building competition. I can’t take that lightly
  6. +1 actual one of the GOATs. I missed you man
  7. RP Name: Dono | Norbel Semaj Steam ID: VIP (Y/N): Y Age: 19 Timezone: EST What was your previous staff rank?: SA Are you currently staff on a different server?: No Why did you leave the staff team?: I got busy with college as my grades were starting to tank since I was focusing to much on gmod. Decided to resign so I could focus and not feel attached to the server with an loa. Summer rolled in an now I have free time so im coming back. I also got burned out at the end last time because I took on way too much work with gm, irl, and battalion work. This time im focusing on the things that actually are fun for me: Jedi and GM. Why do you want to rejoin the staff team? (3 sentence minimum): I left for 3 - 4 months and hopped my building would inspire more people within the gm team to go out of their comfort zone and build more. Unfortunately I dont think that was the case as in the time I stepped away its just the same skilled builders doing things and there hasn't been much growth outward in the team for builders. My goal with returning is to focus on teaching others how to build efficiently and to use building as a creative tool to expand upon their events. Before I left as GMM, I saw this myself and wanted to do this before but school screwed me over but now that I have the time I want to go full in on this. Some may disagree with this but in my years of experience as a Game master across multiple communities, I have found that building is the most important asset to creating a story. Not only are you changing up a map that's reused, building allows you to really go through your plans for an event and iron out an event before you run it. Id like to really focus on this during my time in the GM team and to show others how impactful and fun it is. How do you feel your previous time as a staff member went? (3 sentence minimum): I think I did pretty good last time. I ran some of the largest deployments ever seen on this server with an amazing group of individuals and really challenged my own extreme ambitions for the gm team. I made it all the way up to GMM even though a fair amount of people in server leadership disliked my personality that I used to have and I believe I proved my worth as a staff member. Do you understand by reapplying to get your previous rank back that you will be tested on your knowledge of the server rules and practices?: yes If you are reapplying for the rank of SA, are you aware that applying will opt you in to becoming a Game Master? (Failure to opt in to GM will drop you to the rank of Admin): yes thats what im here for Link us to a document for a deployment (Event Server) that you will execute as a gamemaster: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ykcRqGAU8olOXYckPXmJtpUiM2CGA3ReLF5VC5ukefU/edit - event I ran before that did alright. Im gonna be redoing this for other battalions then just 501st and make it better from what went wrong last time. Place the links below of at least 2 Events you have been the GM for (optional):
  8. It’s true, I was there and can vouch for the accuracy of this statement @Mazen
  9. Ultimately the problem In my opinion is a just a general mentality of people to be unwilling to take on risk with trying something new (or try to do something ambitious that may have fallen apart before). I can say personally I have held an immense amount of ambition before on this server and tried to spearhead large projects before on my own to bring something refreshing and interesting to the table for once to unfortunately just be burnt out by the general lack of support that exists among community leadership sometimes for people who are willing to do something different then the status quo. Not only this, school kicked my ass hard since I focused so much on gmod in order to accomplish my Ambitions , which sucked my entire will to play on synergy before. One thing I have found tho, is that I’m addicted to this thing called synergy swrp and find myself right back where I left 3 months later after the storm passes. I’ll Probably need to go to counseling eventually for this community but that’s a later problem. - I’m actually writing all this on vacation rn too. I’ll do a deep dive so prepare to read or ignore this entirely (fair enough) —————————————————- the large scale event project that ran for 3 huge projects being the most prominent example of my ambition. We worked so incredibly hard to put things together so that we could shake up the pot and attempt to show people that if you have a dream of something ambitious but aren’t someone leading the community from above - enough sweat can make something happen. While we didn’t go nearly as far as we hoped - I think it was a pretty big success. I remember having this dream for doing deployments that used both main server and event server the first time I joined the gm team over a year ago - but for months whenever I brought it up around other people who held somewhat substantial leadership positions it was usually met with “it’s been done before and didn’t work at all” or “that just won’t work, it’s too much to do”. it did end up happening when a group of people came together and decided to push so hard that they ended up staying up late for multiple weeks straight to build, plan and prepare these projects to prove our ambitious dreams could be done. i guess what I’m trying to say, is that leadership all around needs to understand that the founder and development team isn’t enough on its own to keep this community popping. The community needs ambition and spark from its own players to continue being unique and amazing. If you have an idea and you fully believe in it - don’t let anyone else kill it. If your a leader in this community and someone brings an idea for something new / unique don’t just dismiss them - provide constructive feedback and start a positive cycle of thought. Leaders are nothing without the people who support them. Every person in this community has a part to play in making it exciting to actually play on the server. Additionally, the founders did drop dead for communications for awhile but now seem to be fixing it. They will prove their words in time with their actions. I have hope for that at least. I respect everyone who takes on a leadership role in this community to improve it. But leadership shouldn’t be the only people trying to improve things - the entire community needs to work together to find more ways then just relying on others to make things happen. This is a team effort, work together, be ambitious and creative. It goes a long way. I’ve seen dozens of huge ideas that seem so amazingly fun but take an immense amount of work to accomplish fall to nothing. Gmod becomes interesting when something ambitious is done on it.
  10. This gif is the only thing that gets posted in the 1 on 1 discussion
  11. I’m at a loss for words….. just when I think people have made dumb decisions and can’t do something worse around here, y’all find another way to epicly fail at doing something. I’m no genius but clearly there’s a level of communication and common courtesy that was completely disregarded here. Your 1 on 1 conversations should be filled with apologies because this is exactly how you don’t bring change to a community. Have some respect for what people dedicate themselves to, this is appalling. i hope all the 21st who got nailed with this bs the best of luck. Y’all got played like a fiddle by high command. good luck high command, your gonna need it.
  12. +1 good luck on the interview, I just hope you have more to talk about cuz the order has more problems than what is listed here.
  13. I agree with the idea for the map rotation. Having all 3 being rotated would be pretty cool to see a few months after the new map is released
  14. What might’ve happened a year ago is something to look at but only briefly. People have quite the capacity to grow and undergo change as they make mistakes and learn from them, sometimes harshly. All of what you proposed in your app are things I have found to be disgruntled with my entire time I have been a player on this server and had a Jedi. Consular has been the rp branch of the order for the entire time I have been here. There is no reason the other branches cannot excel in rp other then because of the stigma that if your a Jedi and not a consular, you don’t need / get to rp. +1
  15. I think the founders just need to communicate more with the rest of the community directly. Discontent toward the people up top will always grow when the people below them receive little amounts of information on when things they are concerned about will be addressed. For the past year + I have been in this community, there has been a pretty strong underlining discontent with founders / management due to the repeated lack of communication for development and delays. The trello is great but honestly it doesn't really tell any of the players in this community what is actually going on with development and server suggestions in real time. I think a lot of hype and excitement could be built with more communication on what is being done behind the scenes to keep making the server better. If there was some discord channel or something on the main discord that just listed progress of development as it goes, people would be more engaged to keep playing on the server. Having a couple weeks without any information about development is fine, going months without any development updates is draining for the entire community. I would like to think that every person here understands that the founders and developers aren't going to be always free to do gmod stuff - I dont think anyone thinks they should either. Don't take this as we need updates every day on whats going on, that's not what any of us are asking for - just give out status updates on regularly. It would go a long way in boosting server morale. Releasing bits of information more often doesn't lessen the impact of an update coming out. You dont have to spill every secret thing your working on, just give people something to look forward to over time instead of leaving the community in the dark, time and time again.
