How is RC doing so far (criticism)

So, was just wondering what other people thought about RC.

So how is RC doing so far, more importantly delta squad since that’s my squad but RC overall is fine. Anything we can improve on or anything, just comment below.

Note: I already know some roasts are inbound most likely from certain people, but let’s try to keep it to constructive criticism and not all out shitting on RC. Thanks.

You guys have been doing well helping out other battalions, you've also worked well in doing so with null. Now that we (the 104th) have null overseers you guys also join us for training sometimes. I just wish you guys would keep a more personal connection to a battalion, like how null does it.

I enjoy seeing very active RC members and interacting with them on most cases. That being said:

"(3.6.f) RC, Null, Naval, and High Command have authority over the lockable interrogation room while interrogating and interrogations of most combatants."

If a battalion is being used to escort someone(s), not considered hostile, I do not enjoy the missed opportunity to have a Roleplay (RP) experience with them just because they were moved to the IR for an initial check and security lockdown to ensure safety of the ship and clones.  I really do not want to have to take a possible refugee or classified personnel not considered hostile to another room just to get the RP with them. If you guys use judgement through RP before taking over the situation that would be great.

Also, for RP, when RC and Null are actually conducting the interrogations have some ranking clone officer part of it, even if it is observing from outside. That way, when things are suggested as a course of action, that trooper officer can dish out orders to their own and other battalions to be carried out.

"(3.51.c) RC and Null-class Commandos may not order other clones however, they also cannot be ordered by other clones except for High Command as specified in 3.2."

I see where your coming from, but I’ll respond from my, and most likely all the other RCs, point of view.

In terms of IR, were supposed to be doing the interrogations. That’s what the class is made for(not the only reason but you get where I’m coming from hopefully) RC and NULL are special (in terms of RP, not saying we’re above everyone else) we specialize in stuff such as interrogations, yes so do other people/battalions, but RC/NULL is a very limited role. 4 people per squad, and I think it’s 5 for Null. People go through hard ass tryouts, maybe failing even 10 tryouts, and then finally passing. I did 14 tryouts for Fixer, and guaranteed some of them were pissed/sad when they failed. But then someone finally passes, and they finally get to do special stuff such as an interrogation, and then we get to IR, just to find out we got some random 327th (just an example) doing interrogations. It kinda triggers us. RC tryouts are the hardest tryouts on the server, i am 100% sure about that. So when someone that went to RC tryouts 10 Times and finally passed just to find out someone else is doing an interrogation, of course some of us is going to be mad.

Moving onto the next rule you spoke about, we do of course have our own way of doing things, but sometimes if naval or high command want to do he interrogation, or tell us what to do in he interrogation, we listen. Sometimes we even hear people through the glass saying stab his eye and then we stab his eye.

One of the the main reasons we tell people to get the fuck out of IR isn’t because we don’t like them, we do it so it’s not crowded as fuck in there. Let’s say there’s an event, mauls captured, hes in IR and RC are inside. And let’s say there’s still 5 deathwatch on the loose, you bet your ass those 5 deathwatch are gonna come to IR and let maul out. Then we tell everyone to get out unless they are RC, Null, naval, or high command. This is just so we can actually shoot the enemies that come into IR and not shoot friendlies, because all the enemies have to do is spray and pray and they’ll hit us and kill us.

The comment I was making was not in relation to HOSTILE KNOWN bad guys.

It is for the unknowns, event jobs seeking help or assistance cause of whatever reason.

I understand that RC and NULL are special when it comes to jobs, I am not taking that way. I am asking that before you demand the "prisoner" that isn't officially a prisoner to allow us simple troopers some RP with them.

:) As it pertains to tryouts, it might be hard, but I am pretty sure my KU tryouts are by far the most comprehensive - bar none.  Of course it is not on your  guys roles but what we expect Keller Units to know. :)

Forgot to respond to be non hostile part.

You can ask Sev and Fixer, nightmare came into IR and was stabbing and hurting refugees and i basically told him to fuck off and get the fuck out of IR. Trust me, we know the difference between a prisoner in IR and someone that just needs to be asked questions and aren’t hostile.

You guys are all terrible, Joking aside. You're all doing fine, Punda you're almost always on and were pretty chill in most events, I don't see fixer or scorch often, I know you're looking for a new sev, I'd apply but I don't think I'd make it yet, hope you fill up the squad soon and get a full Delta squad going on.

Other than that, keep up the good work pals.

I mean I love the idea about having a RC and null squads I think it helps with the role-play aspect and the immersion hell I would love to be one of the members of delta squad I loved republic commandos . However they can some times act like entitled asses to put it bluntly and yes punda is on practically all the time and they are all very active so that's not a problem they just need to know when they need to stop acting like asses and know that they cant boss everyone around because THAT SHIT IS ANNOYING AS HELL STOP IT

PS I would tryout for the position of boss or scorch in a heartbeat

Giving them a lore reason to act like an arse is not a fair thing for them to do in that case I should act like Dic towards them at any given moment as you said we didn't like them or get on so I am completely justified to act like a dickhead to them and pay no consonances INFACT since I can be a dic to them why not everyone there's no punishment...

See where I'm going with this telling people its ok to be a complete dick to everyone with no precautions is a very bad idea

Uhh all RC spots are filled in Delta. I’m not looking for a new Sev, my current Sev is as active as me. Not sure why you never see him or anything.

Anyway, @Scottish I don’t really recall any RC members acting like dicks to anyone, without a proper reason. For example if someone says something that’s just plain retarded, but sorry I’m gonna call you a dumbo, that’s who I am as a person. Pretty sure 90% of the server does this. And if we’re going off lore, RC knew they were better than other clones. And I know for a fact no RC goes around saying “I’m better than all of you.” I mean we could act better than everyone else, because thats how RC was in lore, but we don’t.

Link to comment

Also you don’t APPLY for a position, you go to the tryouts and pass. Also, you don’t tryout for boss, that’s a BCMD position that you apply for. And lastly, the tryouts are not luck based. Maybe the trigger discipline is because the server can lag, but he tryouts are without a doubt you having to try your hardest in order to pass. I went though 14 tryouts before I finally got a Fixer. RC tryouts are by far the hardest on the server. And if I wanted to I could make them even harder, but we make it possible for new people to the sever to make it in.

You have to understand that's part of the character, RC were entitled, because they were some of, if not the best clones ever produced. They have a right and a reason to act that way.

Yeah I agree with that, but that doesn't give them the right to treat other players like trash.

Works both ways. Players think the RC/NULL Players are toxic assholes. RC/NULL Players think they're roleplaying; others should understand but retaliation could be expected. The difficulty is the balancing.

How does the player know that RC/NULL's roleplay requires them to behave that way?

How can they differentiate disrespect/toxicity and roleplay scenario?

How can the RC/NULL execute the roleplay that's enjoyable for all? With minimum out of character conflicts?

There are a ton of questions and issues that come into play and I do admit it is hard to understand/execute - but at the end of the day I believe that players should understand that when meant with an asshole character persona (IRL Military, US Marines act like they're tough shit - because they are. However, they're not dicks for the sake of it. They can also show teamwork/respect. It depends how the situation is played out.), of course in character people won't like them. However, build a positive OOC relationship so that way confusion is minimized.

That's my personal view point on the matter. Goes both ways.

I personally have never been to an RC tryout on this server, but from Former RC friends and leaders I’ve heard that the tryouts are a lot more lax then what we use to do. Just what I’ve heard from old icefuse Commandos and and some old members from my squad on highlander.

Edit: I haven’t seen anything but excellence from them on my end, great job.

Well there are only two people in RC/Null that have med kits so not naming names is pretty pointless.

Well Fi and Jaing has to worry about like 7 other people, RC and NULL is always right up front fighting so of course we need healing a lot. Fi and Jaing don’t have to heal you, they got RC/NULL to worry about. There’s battalion medics for a reason

One thing to keep in mind of with this, Null/RC medics (Jaing and Fi) aren't similar to batt medics. We know most of the time batt medics will almost soleyl run around with only their medkit out 60-90% of the time. Null/RC they will use it only when necessary for themselves or one of their own. Then they are back to fighting. It is a secondary feature more than their primary feature.

Still don't really think that's a good enough of a reason to pretty much tell somebody to fuck off when they asked for a heal

We’ll put yourself in the shoes of a medic then. Getting asked for heals literally every 5 seconds and people are either A) screaming medic, B) demanding that you heal them or C) saying medic 500 Times as quick as they can. Fi and Jaing have more important stuff to worry about, if your complaining about them not healing you then get some medics into your battalion

As an Ex-medic (before Oddball) it is fucking annoying when people are screaming "MEDIC" in an annoyed tone while they are running around like headless chickens. Mother fucker if you want heals DON'T RUN AWAY FROM ME. I'M NOT CHASING YOUR DUMBASS INTO GREVIOUS AND HIS 3 MAGNAGUARDS DOWN MHB WHILE 40+ CLONES WITH TRIGGER DISCIPLINE LOOSER THAN A PORNSTAR'S ASSHOLE ARE SHOOTING DOWN TOWARDS NOSEGATE ON TOP OF SERVER LAG.

On a more serious note, it works both ways. Personally, being a medic is fun but only when people work half way with me. Otherwise I rather keep myself alive so I can save others. The longer I'm alive, the more I can heal.

As the person that plays as the RC Medic Fi personally, I know that 9/10 I will heal you if you ask nicely and I know other people can vouch for this as they see me around healing them. If I decline it is because of 1.) there is already a medic behind you healing you and I'm not needed. 2.) I have been stuck in an area for too long because I have 50 people asking me for heals and I have been healing but now I need to go back to my people to heal the people that are my priority. 3.) Have orders via RC/NULL comms to be somewhere else. 4.) I'm just plain needed elsewhere like the IR or ATC. RC and NULL's Battle station is to roam around the ship as a whole not to stay in one area and heal everyone while we wait for something to happen to rinse and repeat I can only heal people so fast.

+1 I can say that this is truth. All you need to do to get heals is ask nicely, say something like "I'm low on health can I get healed please" or "Please heals". Don't go up to them and say "I NEED HEALED RIGHT NOW", if you do they're just gonna not heal you. So just ask nicely and they'll heal you.

If RC is still toxic after I have left, then Im quite impressed because that means my toxicity created a dark side force nexus in the TS channels that continues to corrupt the minds of young impressionable RC.

@Punda Time for mein two cents. To start this off, I've known of Punda since I started. We didn't always get along, but over the months I've been on, I've gained a solid respect for such a hard worker. You've consistently been attempting to make RC a more respectable and skilled squad, and in my eyes... You have succeeded. When I first joined the server, there was a lot of hate on RC (And NULL come to think of it), even I disliked them. However in the last few weeks (A little before you became Boss. When you started working more with other battalions and making sure your spots were filled.) I've noticed some pretty incredible changes. RC is a lot more active, a lot less confrontational, impressively skilled, and just all around a pleasure to be around. You've not just done a good job for your squad, but have helped other battalions out extensively, mine included. We've had quite a few sims against RC over the last few weeks, and it's always a humbling experience for the boys. Okay, so that is the positive, pressing on to a small list of recommendations.

One, Keep in mind that your squad in particular is going to be looked at with skewed vision. A lot of players on the server played through Republic Commando, and want to see their experience mirrored through your roleplay. This is an almost impossible desire to fulfill, but its something I think you should be aware of. Players will always have ludicrously high expectations from RC, Delta being the main focus. Continue to excel through adversity however, and y'all will instead reflect what players should have seen.  Two, After facing a battalion in a sim or other contest, perhaps join their TS channel afterwards, or hold an ingame mini debrief in order to go over how they performed, what you liked/disliked, and what they can do to better their odds against your squad. Honestly, I've been enjoying the RC and NULL being more involved with other battalions training and improvements, and would like to see you guys come into and fit that role perfectly. Third and lastly, continue to push for cooperation and teamwork between RC and other battalions. We like fighting alongside RC's and when you guys have less members online, try having them post up with other battalions. This can build strong connections and facilitate continued teamwork. Personally, working alongside an RC makes you feel like a badass by proximity, so remember to spread that love.

Anyway, that's my long and honest critique. Hope its insightful or at least worth a read.

Best of luck,

Zahariel

@Punda @Cipher @Apache4k @Baxter As a Colonel of SC and someone that always has close contact with NULL and RC, I have always had decent contact with each member. Though this may just be the mutual respect between SOBDE battalions, the RC guys are great to be around. But also, not once have I screamed at an RC or NULL to heal me, if they want to heal me, they will. Otherwise I expect my own BATTALION medics to be healing me. Don’t expect RC or NULL to do shit for you, their job isn’t to make your day or take orders from you. They are the elite and they at least deserve some figment of respect. RC and NULL take time out of their days CONSTANTLY to train your dumb asses and you guys always call them entitled assholes. I don’t think an entitled asshole would waste his time training idiots who shittalk him behind his back all the time.
