Battalion you are applying for: Coruscant Guard

Experience: Coruscant Guard PVT - CMD

Upon joining Synergy for the first time, I was mainly just curious about Garry’s Mod SWRP and did not initially think I would become as invested as I have. I joined Coruscant Guard initially as I had walked up to the brig, and they asked if I was there for a tryout, and I thought, “I might as well.” This was the first time I had become a part of anything revolving around Garry’s Mod in around 6 years, but that shows the value this battalion offered me in what I hope to inspire in others.

MED - MEDO - MEDL - Rys

From the point I joined CG, I was instructed that the medical branch needed help, and I joined it knowing I could be a valuable piece in assisting it. Throughout this process, I refined my interest and ability in MED RP while progressing from Private to Commander. Through this, I became one of our Medical Officers, and once our then Medical Lead became our Regimental Officer, I took over that role as well as the lore character, Rys. In my time through leadership in the medical branch, I assisted in growing it to the most consistently active branch it had apparently been in a while and only left once I reached Commander and was needed to work on the battalion in other aspects.

ARC

As a medic within the Coruscant Guard, I attended my ARC trainings, successfully passing each of them on my first attempt. Once I had reached Commander, I moved to our ARC specialization as, at that point, we only had one other ARC trooper. In two months in this position, I was able to help our ARC specialization fill out all of its slots with leadership applicants in place. This was the position I agreed to help push ARC to, and at that point, I moved on to a new specialization.

Diplomatic Services - DSL - Stone

While moving on to support a new specialization, CG was experiencing a low population, which included a transition period for our specialized branch in Diplomatic Services. At the point of my joining, there were no longer any active members in DS that weren’t also lore characters with a focus on other specializations, so I applied for and became Stone/DSL. I am continuing an effort to improve the status of this subunit with general activity and its interactions with VIPs and managing negotiations, something I wish to continue to support in the position of BCMD. So far, especially with general activity trending positive for CG over the past few weeks, Diplomatic Services has picked up in members. Also, with the recent activity of more Senators, there have been better RP interactions and more initiative to create RP scenarios, a main goal for CG and DS recently.

Why should you become a Battalion Commander?:

Throughout my time in Synergy, I have consistently worked to show my commitment, will to learn, and effort to improve the Coruscant Guard. I am the best fit for this position among any potential candidates from the qualities previously stated, in addition to my consistent activity, engagement in RP scenarios, and relationships cultivated throughout all members of CG derived from frequent communication during my time in the battalion. As Commander, I helped develop our Rank Requirements/Responsibilities document, routinely managed our roster (in-game and spreadsheet), have been the most consistent in giving Discord tags, gave a much-needed update to our master guide, and reworked the Diplomatic Services handbook and training in regards intel work. I am consistently active and listen to every other member of CG to try and improve this battalion, this would only continue as Fox. Though I have not been a part of this community as long as other battalion commanders, I am observant of other BCMDs and what methods could apply to my battalion. I will implement these methods with any suggestions my battalion has to voice to improve and maintain a better status of CG.

Estimate of how long you've played on Synergy Roleplay?: 5.8 Months

Do you have a microphone?: Yes

Where do you want your battalion to be at the end of your term?:

Officer Corps: The main goal of this battalion going forward is to improve our status as a consistent part of this server in both presence and RP engagement. One of our most immediate needs will be to rebuild our officer corps, as we have had a bit of a reset recently, establishing new officers will be an active goal throughout the next few weeks, and I believe our current NCO corps has the quality of leaders to bring in. From this, increased officer numbers and consistent activity encourage more presence from our NCOs and, transitively, our enlisted. With increased officers to assist in the workload for intel and managing our battalion, we will have opened up more opportunities to push trainings through patrols, sims, and negotiation trainings. Over the past few months, we have needed to output more of these trainings. As some officer spots were just held to a name in past months, the opportunity lies ahead of us to have involved members managing these officer positions and individually contributing their own piece of what they want CG to be. Whether through a quota system or not, I want to increase these RP engagements and trainings as a focal point going forwards. Where we usually want our NCOs to mainly provide trainings, having more worthy and willing officers allows us to provide something for our battalion to engage with consistently.

NCO Corps: One of the most consistent problems over my time in CG is not maintaining an NCO corps. Whether due to a lack of recruiting or random disappearances, it has been a persistent need to work on NCOs. In our current state, we have a healthy NCO corps outputting relatively consistent recruitment and training, so while some of these members will become officers soon, we should have the opportunity to continue the development of bringing in more enlisted to become our next wave of NCOs. In either case, providing a clear path of what each trooper needs to do to earn promotions and help maintain a battalion will be necessary to maintain their status. CG is usually at its healthiest when we have NCOs doing work like they are right now, so it will be my focus to study and understand what I need to incorporate for their positions so that any success we have is repeatable.

Enlisted: It is always been crucial with CG that we must constantly rethink our approach in working on our outward image and assist in making CG viewed as a battalion that new troops would want to join. Our recruitment usually comes in waves and generally at random, so I want to implement more interaction with other battalions and CTs, whether through joint-trainings or demonstrating ourselves in patrols around base. Knight has recently been having CG do more patrols around base that are easy to keep up with regardless of how many CG we have on at any given point. I wish to continue this as it is a great avenue to show ourselves around the base as an involved battalion, catch situations around base as they happen, and study the RP 10-codes we have been implementing as a form of trivia throughout.

Diplomatic Services: This subunit has recently been one of my highest priorities as DS Lead. There are still some things I want to help integrate as Fox, and recently with increased members of DS and a new DS Officer that I trust, the branch will continue to improve. In our current state as the negotiation priority, we have a couple of changes that we plan on making to the negotiation document and training itself. These mainly involve including additional resources in the document, allowing trainees a chance to negotiate in the training, and clarifying ideas presented. This is mainly just an outline at this point, but I already know that a few officers and our DSO are eager to take the opportunity to implement this with me, and I agree with them that it would help our status as the negotiation battalion, in general. Past this, with the increased senate activity and interaction that there has been, we have the opportunity to develop our relationships and involvement with the senators. As it stands, much of the protection work we do with the Senate is more of an escort, and we should bear the onus of giving them something to do. Though we still work to limit senators getting themselves in trouble, utilizing downtime to generate diplomatic missions could be an interesting involvement for both sides that harkens back to what we see DS mainly do in the show, demonstrates and trains our abilities as an elite subunit, and provides positive interaction with our VIPs. Finally, we are in a rebuilding stage with DS Jedi, and recently Outcast has been gracious in his assistance and developing this unit and establishing their trials document. I want to add a DS Jedi officer position, as the lead position for DS Jedi is assigned to whoever Cin Drallig is, and it would benefit the branch to have someone whose main focus is to provide assistance directly without having their credit undermined. I know Outcast has some good plans that he is working on to help develop their involvement with the rest of DS and CG, and I look forward to continuing to work with him to establish DS Jedi as a cool niche for the server.

Tracker: This unit always surprises me with our lack of utilization, and I want to change that, regardless of my position. As I have mentioned throughout this application, CG has been expending efforts to consolidate ourselves as an RP-focused battalion, and tracker is a great place to improve this. Most of the tracker work that we do is basic scouting and utilizing massiffs to sniff things out, which we need to take advantage of more as it is. On the tracker site, there are already great descriptions of what tracker RP can be, and I have already discussed with Iceman about integrating this into different RP in events. However, to jump-start this, I plan on introducing more tracker-specific patrols. Over my time in CG, tracker has almost always been one of the lowest population/active specializations, and by directly giving them tracking-based patrols and working out ways better to integrate their RP in events with event jobs that they can be sent to track down and embolden their use of their RP-grapple hooks. This unit has the potential to demonstrate itself as one of those specializations that make you want to join our battalion.

I am very lucky that I chose this battalion, and I am not sure I could have ever cared for any other as much as I do about the Coruscant Guard. I want what is best for CG, and it deserves that from any BCMD it has. This battalion has been in great hands over the past 9 months with Knight as Fox. I mainly wish to give the grace and status to this battalion that he has and leave it in a place like it is where the improvements I intend to implement are not otherworldly and mainly designed to reassure the positive aspects of our battalion, all in an effort to make CG more well-rounded and appealing. I know I will bring what it takes concerning dedication and commitment to this position and work to be a catalyst for this battalion’s development.
