    Heart of Darkness

8/10 Lots of fun. Voice Acting: Great PvE: Difficult and satisfying Story: Pretty interesting
  3. +1! Neptune’s a long standing member of SOBDE and has shown he can do an amazing job with Omega. Good luck!
  4. +1. Could someone please clarify the original deal that was made to allow HS's addition to the server? From what I understand, compromises were made because every DU trooper had the Z6 and the shield. Currently, the normal DU trooper receives a shield to set it apart from other battalion troops. No Z-6. Additionally, DU has no JT sub-branch, only a Havoc Squad member that has a jetpack (lancer). Every other battalion on the server has JTs. If I understand the original intent behind the compromise, it was to ensure DU did not get too much to set it apart. However, with the removal of the Z-6 from the regular trooper whitelists, I see us as having come out of this "deal" much worse off than when we came in. If things can change and our loadouts can be stripped of an essential function, can they not change similarly to give us something in return?
  5. -1. Firstly, and please correct me if I am wrong about this, but it seems like you are attempting to create this position almost solely so that you can hold it and have it as a status/rank. I am saying this namely from the way you have worded your suggestion and what others in this thread and the DU discord are saying. Secondly, as Comics and others are saying, I feel like this will create a lot of confusion for new players joining the server. They may feel that they can progress as a CT and not want to join battalions as a result (it's my understanding that the server pushes for battalion longevity, not for CT longevity). Finally, I don't see a particular need for the role you are describing. Admins already have the ability and power to temporarily ban minges, so the idea of putting them through CC training again doesn't really make sense to me. Additionally, your point of seeing if a CT is "mature" enough to join a battalion is a completely unnecessary additional step in the process imo. We have battalion tryouts for a reason; the tryouts judge if the recruit is "mature" enough to join the battalion (if you want to put it that way) according to the battalion's standards, standards that change between battalions.
  6. Earlier this summer when we had a forbidden order event and all of us Nulls were allowed to fight with the Jedi against the clones - so much fun, especially with that squad. OR - a long time ago when we had a 21st deployment with like 12 people and I got to do a Mundi vs. Darth Maul fight
  7. Could you provide more detail regarding what specifically these people will be doing? Will they be monitoring the battalions and setting up trainings, helping with docs, etc? Also, what do you envision the implementation of this would be like? Who would be holding these positions, and what incentive would they have to hold the position? Would there be an application process like with RCMDs? I predict some potential for abuse of power if these positions are selected for and have excessive power. On the other hand, if they are given too little responsibility, the need for this role diminishes considerably. Edit: +1 after Willy's response; might as well give this a try. Maybe this will allow regimental commanders to share their burden and as a result become more productive.
  8. Wow this is an... interesting decision to say the least. My opinion doesn't account for much, but I am sure that the four people you have chosen to take the reins of the battalion will lead it into a bright future! Best of luck to Mitchell, Brooklyn, Dennis, and Maddox (and of course the 21st).

    Padme

I wanted to write this out because I thought it would be fun. Is this what you guys did? Using the distance/velocity kinematic equation: vf^2= vo^2 + 2a∂x vo=0 m/s (assuming padme had no vertical velocity upon jumping) ∂x = 3 x 1.77 - 1m (1m is the assumed height of the creature) Thus: vf^2 = 0 + 2 x 8.82 x 4.31 This can be approximated to: vf^2 = 64 or vf = 8 m/s. According to the Work-Energy Theorem: Work = Kf - Ki We want to know the force exerted on Padme as she impacts the creature, so we will say that her final velocity is 0 (when she hits the creature, her velocity becomes 0) and her initial velocity is the vf we found above, 8 m/s. Thus: Work = 0 - (.5) (54 kg) (8 m/s)^2 Work = -1728 Joules Work = Force x Distance Let's assume that the force decelerating Padme was applied over 10 cm -1728 Joules = Force x 0.1m Force = -17,280 Newtons That's a lot of force. Why tf was she not evaporated instantly? (Edit): Alternatively, we could estimate the energy required to break a bone to be around 400 Joules (from a quick google search), so that's around 3x the energy required damn

    Buff Heavy

+1. The z6 is a good weapon, but isn't enough to retain players as the sole draw to the heavy regiment. The addition of a grenade or a stat increase would definitely do a lot to draw more people to staying as a heavy trooper. For those who say that other regiments may suffer, I counter with the idea that every regiment has either multiple kit items or an RP advantage. For example, medics get a bacta kit and a syringe (?), and also get an advantage for medRP in terms of being able to RP revive fellow players. ARF get priority for BARC and AT-RT vehicles, get a 15x sniper, and a RPS-6 rocket launcher. Etc. etc. Heavies are disproportionately disadvantaged and, in my opinion, deserve a buff.
  11. Jagger's comment is super in-depth and really good advice. I personally don't know too much about computers, but from my own personal experience with my PC, please make sure you go with some kind of internal SSD. I have had my PC for around 2 years now, and my biggest regret was not buying and putting in an SSD from the start. Boot times are incredibly long now (the sign in page loads up after around 10 seconds, but my disk is at 100% for at least 5 - 7 minutes upon signing in to windows, meaning I can't do anything on the PC. Anything.). An SSD is a huge quality of life difference and if you can spare the money for one just to put your OS on, it could really make your daily life a lot better imo!
  12. It's okay Mitchell I care about you
  13. Biggest +1 ever. Leche has been with the 212th and the 212th only for the entire time he has been on the server (2 years!!). His dedication to the battalion is unmatched, his attitude is ideal for a leadership position, and he’s a legitimately good guy that people would not hesitate to talk to. Good luck, Leche! You got this.
  14. +1. Have spoken to this guy a few times and his head is definitely in the right place. Good luck Bud!
  15. +1 Will do a great job!
  16. +1 Skitz has the motivation and work ethic to work hard and make some great events! Good luck!
  17. +1. i’ve not interacted with you much. However, after seeing your exemplary record with command positions, the support you are receiving from former and current ATK regiment members, and the collected manner with which you have responded to comments in this thread, I would like to support you. Good luck!
  18. -1 How would you feel if you were being promoted to a position you worked incredibly hard to get and no one showed up to congratulate you? These kinds of debriefs are few and far between, and last less than 2 minutes.
  19. Oh man oh man. I still remember the feeling of joining the 212th for the first time almost exactly 2 years ago and seeing 212th COL Bear (you) and being so amazed by how deep a person could go into this server. Then there was COE Old Man Bro, who made me crack up laughing the first time I saw him. Finally, it was Operations REG CMD Bro, who I could just talk to every once in a while despite being in a "big position" on the server. Honestly Bro, you had a formative impact on my GMOD experience - I really appreciate how open and welcoming you were to a newbie private like myself back then. Thanks for being a cool dude and for all the fun times. Cheers to 3 years! P.S: My favorite Bro was student presentation Bro. I still can't believe you invited us all to your final presentation. That took some serious balls. Salute your Operations Regimental Commander!
  20. +1 You have provided a lot of detail in this appeal, which I appreciate. I believe that you should be given a second chance, as you seem to have matured and recognize the mistakes you made in the past. Good luck!
