Over the past 2 weeks of my experience on Synergy, a glaring problem has been made clear: a lack of cohesive tryout times.

In my 6 years of experience with Clone Wars Role Play, tryouts were almost always limited to map size and available space. For example, on the standard Venator map, there could only really be two at once, as the Side hangars were the only suitable locations for them, with the Medbay being for the Medics exclusively, and the event server being reserved for Special Forces, such as Commandos or ARC.

However, on Synergy, that is not the case. As soon as Debriefing is dismissed, for almost an hour afterward, officers can be seen spamming  messages encouraging people to join a battalion, drowning out any text communication or attempt to give orders. As there are not many new players on the server at these times, one battalion may get lucky, and get one new Trooper to go to the tryouts, with all the spamming that goes on. And half the time, in my experience, that Trooper is a mingey CT just looking to cause trouble.

Tryouts should be something special; A time when a battalion looks for new blood to hone and sharpen their skills, not a time for Commanders to push and shove for new recruits on a constant basis.

The answer to this problem can be solved in two ways that I know work from my own personal experience. These have been tried-and-true methods of successful recruiting for over a dozen servers, and with the size of Synergy, it is sure to work here.

The first way would be to limit the amount of tryouts that happen at once. As previously stated, the map usually determined the number of tryouts available at the time. Limiting people to 2 or 3 tryouts at once would cut down on the spam, and would give each battalion a genuine ability to recruit. Each tryout would be held for half an hour, and if no one showed up after that time, it would be cancelled, and another battalion would get to host tryouts. What would ensue is a constant cycle of just the right amount of tryouts, instead of a massive cluster of bickering officers clamoring for more Troopers.

The second, and perhaps more drastic, solution would be to have scheduled tryouts. For example, the 501st and 212th would be cleared to host tryouts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while the 41st and SO would be able to host them every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, to name only a few battalions. Naval, SO, and other specialized battalions could host any time on the weekends, or within a set period.

The current state of Synergy’s tryout system can be described in a few words: hectic, chaotic, and disorganized. It does no good to sit in one place and constantly post that tryouts are happening if you are drowned out by 5 other battalions doing the same thing. This system is fundamentally broken, and must be revised if Synergy is to continue growing.

Sincerely,

Rancor ARC Sergeant 2598 Rook

As stated, you must use the template. Also the first idea I wouldnt be against but the second one "Scheduling tryouts" I would rather not have. You already see people complaining about youngling trials(Which they HAVE to be that way) but for battalion tryouts it shouldnt be like this.

I would -1 but you didn't follow the format right so it's kind of useless. Also don't limit a battalions liberties to do tryouts. I feel it meet in the middle battalions should limit tryout binds to only comms and use adverts for RP purposes. 41st uses recruits as a way for NCO's to get promotions and limiting them hurts all battalions.

So, the reason why people are able to hold tryouts all the time is because we have a training room, personal hangars, and bunks. People join the server and look for a battalion that suits them and don't want to wait around for a whole week possibly to join a battalion. Personally, I would probably just bail from the server and not come back. Also, people who are allowed to hold tryouts on weekends would not be fair to literally everyone else for the reason of, more players on the weekends so more people would join.

-1. How about instead trying to put limits on battalions that can get people to join, we encourage battalions who can not pull the numbers to become more appealing to new people. If a new member wants to go into a battalion, they should be able to join any battalion that is willing to take on new members. The system that you seem to want focuses more on equality of outcome witch will not happen if people can chose what battalions they want to join. Let new members make there own minds up about what battalions they what to join. If they join a battalion that is bad, they can join another within 3 days.

-1 TBH this is really stupid. Restricting when people can do tryouts? That would just end up in people getting in dumb shit arguments like "our battalion is only dying because we have a bad day" for the schedule - and that argument would probably at least be somewhat true. People play more on different days. If only certain Battalions could tryout on Saturday, them they would end up with the most recruits because the most people play that day. And limiting it to only 3 battalions that can advert at a time? That would easily end up with a couple battalions not being able to, as all the others would claim the spots for advert immediately, right when it becomes available - and it would also be a nightmare to track how many are doing it, who can do it now, etc, etc. I agree that the tryouts system maybe isnt the best, but there's really no good way to fix it.

Firstly the format was not correctly followed here, second of all while I agree the spamming can get cancerous we cant force only a few battalions to do tryouts at a time, that would cause several problems such as certain battalions having more favorable recruitment times than others. Overall I really cant see this working in any kind of fair way. (Myself and Oxen did speak about this already)
