Cross server chat functions

Suggestion: Make staff chat appear across both servers + add a "long range broadcast" chat command that has the same effect as advert but appears on both servers

Implementation: Having staff chat appear across both servers would mainly help in specific situations where someone on either the event or the main server has a question they want to ask about something currently going on on the opposite server, like if a GM needed to know how many players x battalion had before they deployed them to the event server. While this can be done by just looking for someone on TS to answer, this would be a much welcomed QOL change to save you hopping back and forth in ts if you need to keep asking these types of questions.

As for the long range Broadcast command, this would, in my opinion, have the potential to heighten rp greatly when it comes to connecting an event server deployment to whatever is happening on main. Rather than just telling a battalion to connect over in an ooc chat like teamspeak, GMs could have an EJ give some in character information to the forces on the main server, allowing them to prepare RP wise for their deployment, getting ready in the hangar bay, etc. before taking off and heading onto the event server. It would also allow for the potential to have events on the event server and the main server be linked should enough GMs be willing to coordinate it. Information can be transferred directly from the event server to the main in character as the events unfold. I personally believe that having the opportunity to heighten RP in these specific ways would be a great addition.

Limitations of GMOD make this very difficult to implement in an efficient way from my knowledge. It's a cool idea tho

+1 I know they something along the lines of this on Superior Servers and it looks cool but maybe a cooldown for every message or else it would clog the chat, even if its only staff chat or something like that.

I obviously don't know all the ins and outs, but I know other servers have implemented it. It could be something that might not be possible on ours though, as I have heard that certain specific features are only possible with some kind of specific server settings that I guess we might not have. It could be cool to look into but like I said I'm no expert so if you know it can't can't done that's a shame ig but it is what it is

cross server event communication

IE: 104th and 501st on event server if they fuck up it affects main.and they can see it as long as it’s toggable

 

gm able to deploy the battalions in rp focused way 

BVB can announce their matches and scores live for the main server to see

i can go on and on :)

That's why I suggested it only be done with staff chat and a new in character broadcast that's sole purpose is to go cross server, not just like every ooc message goes across, but only the important ones. The in character broadcast one would *definitely* add a lot of actual roleplay opportunities when it comes to doing events on the event server, and the staff chat would be a really convenient feature that lets GMs communicate with each other on the fly. I guess I can see maybe some unrelated messages cropping up in chat if people are using staff chat to talk about things on one server? But staff chat isn't really spammed so I doubt that would be an issue at all and the main feature would be the broadcast command anyway since, as I said, it adds a lot of roleplay opportunity and lets GMs more convincingly link event server deployments with the main server rather than just poking the battalions in teamspeak and saying "connect"

It would be a staff only thing. Stuff for the GM team to expand upon the scale of our events. With the command you could effectively use both servers to run a single largescale battle and still keep both player groups connected while being in character.

-1 ever heard of TeamSpeak? Or TeamSpeak global chat or poking someone in TS. Crazy or using naval to deploy people. 
 

memes aside from what I can tell and have asked around the system sup uses is custom to the bone and is built into their custom game modes and it takes a large toll on their servers

-1 This sounds really cool. Not gonna lie. But there are definitely other things that take priority over this. I don't think this is a suggestion that would help with the pop count. Which is something we should really focus on in my eyes. Dumb me all you want, but it ain't gonna change my opinion.
