CIS Event job suggestion 'notarget?'

Sock Monkey

Recommended Posts

Name: Sock

Suggestion: Make it so hostile NPCs automatically do not attack CIS event jobs, and instead friendly NPCs can target them

Implementation: I think you'd just adjust the code for the jobs abit

Lore: CIS droids typically wouldn't attack allied droids :/

Workshop content if applicable: ----
(If no workshop content, suggest a developer or put "Require Development")

If you are asking to add or change a job, fill out the following

Add or Change: Change

Job: All CIS Event jobs

Model: NA

Weapons:NA

Other: So to kind of word this out a bit more, if possible it would be a lot easier for gamemasters and events to flow more if all CIS event jobs were automatically 'notargeted' by enemy NPCs and instead they could get targeted by friendly NPCS.

scenario: Droids are fighting clones in MHB, droid NPCs are spawned in and there also happen to be friendly clone NPCs spawned in to help out in the defense, when a player Event job droid comes in all of the droids continue their fight against the clones instead of targeting the droid player, and if the droid player gets too close to the clone NPCs they fire at him/her instead.

As I understand it it's because of the base HL2 code that limits the NPCs the way they are now, Every player is treated as friendly to one faction and hostile to another. Not entirely sure if its possible to code it in a different way through and add on but that's a question for @Zim

I don't think this would be possible, Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see any part of the Job code which could be modified to set factions regarding NPCs

This is possible. May not be worth it to develop when Event jobs can just use the tool gun and notarget. But it is possible

TBH I think it would be nice if VIPs could only use the Notarget tool on a tool gun, (which would need spawned in for them to use it).

I like this idea but i dont think its possible.
Neutral. (If it is Possible it would take a ton of development)

Idea 1: Let event jobs spawn with a tool gun so they can no target themself.

This will never happen because after events a lot of whitelists stay and so a toolgun could be used by non staff and you can do a lot of bad stuff with a toolgun

You do know the GM is supposed to take away the whitelist right when the event is done also he said to spawn the tool gun then make it so vip can only use no target

I do but do you know how often that doesn't happen

I mean to be honest a lot of game masters used to ask permission from GMO+ back in the day if we could just spawn a tool gun for an event job so they could no target themselves if really needed for rp purposes as apposed to just shoot em ups. Once you die or respawn you lose the no target anyways unless you re-enable it. It's probably changed since then though, or GMs just don't know or ask about it.
