The Republic's State of the Union

Senate Advisor, Vice-Chairman, Members of the Senate, Clones and my fellow Civilians:

We meet today at a moment of unlimited potential. As we begin a new Senate, I stand here ready to work with you to achieve historic breakthroughs for all members and allies of the Republic. Billions of our fellow citizens are watching us now, gathered in this great chamber, hoping that we will govern the Galactic Republic. Many of us campaigned on the same core promises: to defend the Republic jobs and demand fair trade for Republic workers; to rebuild and revitalize our Republic infrastructure; to reduce the price of healthcare and prescription drugs; that puts the Republics interests first. There is a new opportunity in the Senates politics if only we have the courage to seize it. Victory is not winning for ourselves, Victory is winning for the Galactic Republic, our Galactic Republic.

In 22 BBY, the Republic saved freedom, transformed science, and redefined war as we see it now. Now, we must step boldly and bravely into the next chapter of this great Republic adventure. Amazing quality of life for all of our citizens is within our reach.

We can make our communities safer, our families stronger, our culture richer, our faith deeper.

But we must reject the views of revenge, resistance, and retribution -- and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good.

Together, we can break decades of the stalemate between old and new ideas. We can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions, and unlock the extraordinary promise of the Republic's future. That decision is ours to make.

We must choose between greatness or gridlock, results or resistance, vision or vengeance, incredible progress or pointless destruction.

Tonight, I ask you to choose greatness.

Over the last 2 years, we have entered a war. We have gained people and we have lost people.

In just 2 years since the creation of the Clone Army, we have launched an unprecedented economic boom -- a boom that has rarely been seen before. We have created billions of new jobs for our Citizens. Something which almost everyone said was impossible to do, but the fact is, we are just getting started.

Wages are rising at the fastest pace in decades and growing for our lower class, who I promised to fight for, faster than anyone else. Nearly 100 million lower class civilians have been lifted off the Poverty level. The Galactic Republic’s economy is growing almost twice as fast today as when Chancellor Valorum took office, and we are considered far and away the best economy anywhere in the Universe. Unemployment has reached the lowest rate in half a century. Unemployment has reached it’s lowest levels ever recorded. Unemployment for Humans and Species with disabilities has also reached an all-time low. More people are working now than at any time in our history.

We passed a massive tax cut for working families and doubled the child tax credit.

We virtually ended the estate, or death, tax on small businesses, ranches, and family farms.

We eliminated the very unpopular ValorumCare individual mandate penalty -- and to give critically ill patients access to life-saving cures, we passed right to try.

Our Senate has cut more regulations in a short time than any other administration during its entire time. Companies are coming back to our Republic in large numbers thanks to historic reductions in taxes and regulations.

After 24 months of rapid progress, our economy is the envy of the world, our military is the most powerful in the Universe, and the Republic is winning each and every day. Members of the Senate: the State of our Union is strong. Our Republic is vibrant and our economy is thriving like never before.

On Friday, it was announced that we added another 150 million jobs last month alone -- almost double what was expected. An economic miracle is taking place in the Galactic Republic -- and the only thing that can stop it are foolish politics or ridiculous partisan investigations.

If there is going to be a chance at winning this war, there cannot be meaningless investigations.

We must be united at home to defeat our adversaries abroad.

Now is the time for bipartisan action. Believe it or not, we have already proven that it is possible.

In the last Senate Hearing, Senators came together to hear the Vice-Chairman and the Chancellors ideas and rules.

Now, Planets across the Republic are following our lead. The Republic believes in redemption.

The Senate has 10 days left to pass a bill that will fund our Government, protect our homelands, and secure all of our Planets borders.

Now is the time for the Senate to show the Universe that the Galactic Republic is committed to continuing the war with the CIS.

As we speak, large, organized attacks are on the march against the Galactic Republic. We have just heard that some CIS cities, in order to remove Republic Propaganda are killing those who spread the word and are torturing them endlessly. The Senate has ordered a new batch of Clones.

This is a moral issue. The lawless state of the CIS is a threat to the safety, security, and financial well‑being of the Republic. We have a moral duty to create a Republic that protects the lives and jobs of our citizens. This includes our obligation to the millions of Species living here today, who follow the rules and respect our laws. Tonight, I am asking you to defend us from the CIS out of love and devotion to your fellow citizens and to your Republic.

No issue better illustrates the divide between the Republics working class and the Galactic Republic’s political class than this war. Wealthy politicians and donors push for the war to end while living their lives behind walls, gates, and guards.

Meanwhile, working-class citizens of the Republic are left to pay the price for mass CIS control -- reduced jobs, lower wages, overburdened schools and hospitals, increased crime, and a depleted social safety net.

Tolerance for this war to end is not compassionate -- it is cruel. The accused use their own Children as a bargaining chip for immunity.

The savage rule of the CIS now operates in 20 different Planets. Just yesterday, A CIS attack killed our citizens by the thousands, but until we win this war they're going to keep killing.

Year after year, countless Citizens are murdered by the CIS. In the last 2 years, our brave Clone Army has killed countless CIS Droids. We are joined tonight by Grand Admiral Yularen and his family.

Our Senate has a commonsense proposal to add more funding to the war.

It includes humanitarian assistance, more police droids.

This is a smart, strategic way to earn the full trust of our Citizens. As we work to defend our people's safety, we must also ensure our economic resurgence continues at a rapid pace.

No one has benefitted more from our thriving economy than women, who have filled 58 percent of the new jobs created in the last year. All Citizens can be proud that we have more women in the workforce than ever before.

As part of our commitment to improving opportunity for women everywhere, this Thursday we are launching the first ever Government-wide initiative focused on economic empowerment for women in developing Planets.

To build on our incredible economic success, one priority is paramount -- reversing decades of calamitous trade policies.

We are now making it clear to Kamino that after months of targeting our credits and stealing our intellectual property, the theft of our Credits and wealth has come to an end.

Therefore, we recently imposed a new bill that will lower the price of the clones which the Kaminoans agreed upon -- and now we are saving billions of Credits a month. But I don't blame Kamino for taking advantage of us -- I blame our current faulty system that will change. I have great respect for the Kaminoan Scientists, and we are now working on a new deal with Kamino and other Planets. But it must include real, structural change to end unfair deal practices, reduce our chronic debt, and protect citizens jobs.

The next major priority for all of us should be to lower the cost of healthcare and prescription drugs -- and to protect patients with pre-existing conditions.

Already, as a result, our Senate, in 21 BBY has lowered drug prices significantly. But we must do more. It is unacceptable that our citizens pay vastly more than people who are part of the CIS. For the exact same drug, often made in the exact same place. This is wrong, unfair, and together we can stop it.

I am asking the Senate to pass legislation that finally takes on the problem of global freeloading and delivers fairness and price transparency for Republic patients. We should also require drug companies, insurance companies, and hospitals to disclose real prices to foster competition and bring costs down.

No force in history has done more to advance the peoples condition than Republic freedom. In recent years we have made remarkable progress in the fight against Space Aids. Scientific breakthroughs have brought a once-distant dream within reach. My budget will ask the Senate to make the needed commitment to eliminate Space Aids and other fatal viruses from the Republic.

Tonight, I am also asking you to join me in another fight that all citizens can get behind

The Republic is proud to be the first Democracy to include a budget a plan for nationwide paid family leave -- so that every new parent has the chance to bond with their newborn child.

There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our Republic saw in recent days. The lawmakers of Naboo cheered with delight upon the passage of Planet legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother's womb moments before birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world. And then, we had the case of the Governor of Alderaan, where he stated he would execute a baby after birth.

To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Senate to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother's womb.

Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children -- born and unborn.

The final part of my agenda is to protect the Galactic Republic’s Security.

Over the last 2 years, we have begun to fully rebuild the Galactic Republic’s Military -- with $700 trillion last year and $716 trillion this year. We are also getting other Planets to pay their fair share. For years, Coruscant was being treated very unfairly by the Republic -- but now we have secured a $100 trillion increase in defense spending from those who live here.

As part of our military build-up, the Galactic Republic is developing a state-of-the-art Phase II Clone Armor. Our Republic, we will never apologize for advancing our interests.

For example, decades ago the Galactic Republic entered into a treaty with the Separatists to stop a war. While we followed the agreement to the letter, the CIS marched on Theed, That is why I announced that the Galactic Republic has officially cut all ties with the Separatists.

Perhaps we can negotiate a different agreement, adding Kamino and others, or perhaps we can't --- in which case, we will outspend and out-innovate all others by far.

As part of bold new diplomacy, we continue our historic push for peace on the Kashyyyk Beaches. Our POWS have come home from there, and there has not been a CIS missile launched in 5 days. If Chancellor Palpatine did not get the Chancellery, we would right now, in my opinion, be dead, billions of people killed. Much work remains to be done, My relationship with Vice Chairman Mas Amedda is a good one. And Vice Chairman Amedda and Chancellor Palpatine will speak again after this to discuss new policies being brought forth.

Two weeks ago, the Republic officially recognized the legitimate government of Alderaan and its new interim Leader.

We stand with the Alderaanian people in their noble quest for freedom -- and we condemn the brutality of the Clan’s regime, whose socialist policies have turned that Planet, from being one of the most wealthiest Planets into a state of abject poverty and despair.

Here, in the Republic, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country. The Galactic Republic was founded on liberty and independence --- not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free. Tonight, we renew our resolve that the Galactic Republic will never be socialist.

One of the most complex sets of challenges we face is the CIS.

Our approach is based on principled realism -- not discredited theories that have failed for decades to yield progress. For this reason, our Senate recognized the true capital of the Republic, Coruscant.

Our brave troops have now been fighting the CIS for almost 2 years. On Kashyyyk and Geonosis, nearly 500,000 Republic heroes have given their lives. More than 100,000 troops have been badly wounded. We have spent more than $500 trillion in this war alone.

We pledge a new approach. We do not fight endless wars.

When Chancellor Palpatine took office, the CIS controlled more than 20,000 square miles in Theed, the Capitol of Naboo. Today, we have liberated virtually all of that territory from the grip of these bloodthirsty killers.

Now, as we work with our allies to destroy the remnants of the CIS, it is time to give our brave warriors in Naboo a warm welcome home.

I have also accelerated our negotiations to reach a political settlement in Povertised Planets. Our troops have fought with unmatched valor -- and thanks to their bravery, we are now able to pursue a political solution to this long and bloody conflict.

In Kashyyyk, our Senate is holding constructive talks with a number of Wookie Tribes. As we make progress in these negotiations, we will be able to reduce our troop presence and focus on more pressing matters. We do not know whether we will achieve an agreement -- but we do know that after 2 years of war, the hour has come to at least try for peace.

Above all, friend and foe alike must never doubt the Galactic Republic’s power and will to defend our people. Last year, our attack on the droid factories was successful. But at a great cost.

We are honored to be joined tonight by a Theta Squad member, which 3/4th of his Squad died there. To ensure the corrupt CIS never acquires nuclear weapons, I withdrew the Galactic Republic from the disastrous nuclear deal with the CIS. We will not avert our eyes from a regime that chants death to the Republic and threatens genocide against the Republic’s people. We must never ignore the vile poison of anti-Semitism or those who spread its venomous creed. With one voice, we must confront this hatred anywhere and everywhere it occurs.

Just months ago, 1,000 Republic Civilians were viciously murdered in an attack by the CIS. thanks to the blood and tears and courage and vision of our troops who came before.

Think of this Capitol -- think of this very chamber, where lawmakers before you voted to end cruel and un-needed policies, to build more Hospitals, Schools and places of Worship.

Here tonight, we have legislators from across this magnificent Republic. You have come from the rocky shores of Naboo and the volcanic peaks of Mustafar; from the snowy woods of Hoth and the red deserts of Balmorra; from the green farms of Alderaan and the golden beaches of Kashyyyk. Together, we represent the most extraordinary Republic in all of history.

What will we do with this moment? How will we be remembered?

I ask the men and women of this Senate: Look at the opportunities before us! Our most thrilling achievements are still ahead. Our most exciting journeys still await. Our biggest victories are still to come. We have not yet begun to dream.

We must choose whether we are defined by our differences -- or whether we dare to transcend them.

We must choose whether we will squander our inheritance -- or whether we will proudly declare that we are the Galactic Republic. We do the incredible. We defy the impossible. We conquer the unknown.

This is the time to re-ignite the Republic imagination. This is the time to search for the tallest summit and set our sights on the brightest star. This is the time to rekindle the bonds of love and loyalty and memory that link us together as citizens, as neighbors, as friends.

This is our future -- our fate -- and our choice to make. I am asking you to choose greatness.

No matter the trials we face, no matter the challenges to come, we must go forward together.

We must keep the Republic first in our hearts. We must keep freedom alive in our souls. And we must always keep faith in the Republic's destiny -- that one Republic, under Democracy, must be the hope and the promise and the light and the glory among all the nations of the world!

1. They keep attacking Military Property causing thousands of credits in damages.

2. They keep attacking and killing our Military Personnel.

3. They keep destroying the Doonium Mines.

4. The Jedi have proven themselves useful enough to keep as an ally and part of the Republic, although they themselves said and quote "We are not soldiers, we are peace keepers."
