For the many years that deployments have been done, I've yet to see one be completely ruined or shafted by not having setspawns. Even when I had the ability to set spawns, it never occurred to me to use it, not for lack of creativity (I dare you to challenge mine) but because there was never a practical reason to have checkpoints/custom initial spawns. Also lag from tacs is minimal on ES. Hell, you can spam 25 hunter-choppers on ES before feeling any lag, Tacs do not contribute, they're low-poly few-lines of code with an NPC (Yes, the hologram is coded as an NPC stuck in a pose). 25 tacs is the same as 25 miniature NPCs with no AI and 25 props. If that causes lag, then we better remove SOBDE because their dupe is 10x that on MAIN SERVER

I fully enjoy putting together, commanding, and overall designing events in the same way a conventional game is designed: Putting the players and their opportunities and options first. I despise the standard shoot-em-up with no buildup or consequences, and really enjoy putting players in an uncomfortable scenario where anything they say and do matters. Even through my current encounters, I found myself implementing choices for those involved to make sure it's not a "It has to be this way.mp3" event. Not only that, but I am very passionate about good events, and enjoy watching and hearing the reactions and ratings of those participating. Overall, I miss being a gamemaster, and am doing my best to try and return to my spot to revitalize a lost art-form in the team. I'm speaking as the plugin currently exists, because anything that is "Dev Work Required" either never happens or takes a long time if it isn't already planned. As it currently exists, the jobs are individual in category. Spawns are saved by map, thats why we don't have to reset when we go from venator to anaxes. Also i've never been to a flatgrass deployment; if you need checkpoints set then you should allow for natural pauses to allow tac-spawning, and regrouping with medkits, ammo, etc. So everyone in the event can take a tiny break. It's a win-win in my eyes.

Devil’s Advocate, what if I don’t want the spawns to change? I get on ES and all the spawns are ruined for a certain map. Sure, I go through and set them all back, but then I miss one group (I.E, RANCOR) and suddenly a whole battalion gets spawned into droids in a one life. plus, AFAIK, the commands for staff are linked between servers, so allowing it on ES would put it on Main (correct me if I’m wrong) plus plus, this isn’t a necessity by any means. It’s a little more work and effort, but it’s not an obscene amount that this change would ultimately eliminate. Most maps’ default spawns are pretty good on ES. Tl:Dr It’s less of a “High staff don’t want you to have setspawns/jail” and more of “There’s never been a need for setspawns.” Spawns are saved by map and I don’t feel like cleaning your spawns on a fresh map load.

They were "pattern" based, and didn't require any RP. You just clicked and there was a few wires, and you had to have a second tab open similar to KTANE Example: Blue black yellow red then you go to the guide and it says "If it's blue followed by black, cut red, only if the third one isn't green" No skill really

From my hundreds of hours GMing, the three things people hate most is: 1. Being unable to take a loss under bullshit circumstances. I've done a few events where the republic is unable to proceed and must retreat, and a lot of people like the dynamic. Having to camp out in the woods and wait for reinforcements or a battle plan, it really gets a lot of people going. However, when droids are spawned on top of them, or when HMC just turns off after /advert blows up HMC, I always hear a belated sigh or "bruh" every time, and it really tanks ratings. This is both a player and GM problem: Learn to lose more, and learn to create acceptable losses (I.E don't bomb 45 troopers that have no way to survive it unless proper warning or "Anti-Moron" adverts go off.) 2. Passive RP is non existent outside of GM and Senators. Being in the military (cringe i know) there's a lot of dumb, passive shit that happens all the time. We shoot guns maybe twice a year; granted i'm not in a combat zone. Some things we're always doing is PT, classes on how to handle certain scenarios (IEDs, Anti-terrorism, Counter-intel and spying, etc.), classes on our jobs (Get all the MEDs, and start doing a class for a new "illness" going around, how to identify it, and cure it), platoon lunch/mess nights, patrols, and so much more. This is a SUPPLY unit that hasn't been deployed in 8+ years, so you can take these ideas AND MORE to SWRP and create something for yourself and others. 3. Too many people suffer from "I wanna be the guy" disorder. Every battalion has a role, and every subunit has a role, but I'll be damned if I'm not the one to do it. It's not a bad thing, and it's hard to account for these things. It's a double-edged sword after all: You want the best EOD to do the EOD roleplay (I.E SOBDE), but your EOD training never gets used because they always want the best to do it, so whenever you DO get the opportunity, it's all you could ask for. None of these are critiques on anyone, just things i've observed. Doing these things won't even fix the server entirely, but it'll create a lot more memories which is really what it's all about, right?
