If I could explain fully it might help. Without leaking Rangers tryouts, the current situation is this: Ranger tryouts are hard, and for good reason. They require you to be great at Medical, tactics, and recon. This is to determine whether you deserve a position in Rangers, as the current structure of Rangers is:
Ranger-00 Faie, GCL
Ranger-1 Cooker, Ranger Lead
Ranger-2, Bonshyyyr
Ranger-3, Saava
Ranger-4, Syren
Ranger-5, Wroshyr
These, as far as battalion goes, is all of the “active” Ranger members.
Rangers 6-100 are reserved for Former Rangers, (Former Grees, Faies, get auto Ranger designation).
The only current reason to be in Rangers is to be given a designation and a codename. The idea of this is to distinguish Rangers from GC enough to garner consistent interest. The gun is not at all, by any means, overpowered, just different. It’s more of a DMR, less of a sniper. Anybody can be a Ranger if you have the medical trainings and pass the tryout, however you will be regiment transferred to medical if you do. Rangers is not meant to just be a better GC Medic, its the best of GC running under an ARF + MED combo WL.
(Also idk how to add this to my name but if it helps to understand my history and how I know all this I’m the: Current: Ranger Lead Cooker, Current GCO, former MEDL Nemec)
I hope this gives you some insight into my thinking, and, at best, sheds light on my line of thought. I appreciate the questions and feedback.
