blueduckdino Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Name: Ducky RP Rank: XMO / MEDO / Naval Commander Permission Granted by Crimson Suggestion: Currently, when medics engage in medical roleplay, most of what I have observed, and not, MED RP is rather disinteresting or boring to some. My suggestion is to add minigames like the one from belsavis for the engines, life support system, and the current revival question system. All, in their own way, can be fun at times. My primary focus with this suggestion is minigames for surgery, cure creation/distribution, and maybe even a checkup minigame where simulated metrics like heart rate and body temperature are provided. Implementation: While the implementation of these suggestions is entirely dependent on what the developers are willing to create, I do have a few ideas. 1. Surgery Minigame, a command could be introduced which allows a medic to prompt a player to do a surgery on them. Should the person accept, the medic could engage in a minigame like the game "Operation" where you have to carefully remove pieces without messing up. 1.5 Surgery Effects, if possible, giving players a minor negative effect that can be resolved with surgery or simply waiting a few minutes. Such as a decrease in max health, movement speed, or armor. 2. Cure creation and distribution, it could be where you have to follow a randomly generated recipe, pouring specific amounts of liquid into a flask, if you mess up, have a something wrong happen, such as in regular rolling RP where you can accidentally create infectious proteins. Then, upon completion, a little animation of it going into the vents could be cool, but entirely visual. 3. Checkups, an optional minigame could provide additional information that could be RNG, or weighted based on variables, such as health, or if possible how much damage has been taken recently. Then, you could use various tools to give you data such as a thermometer, heart rate monitor, EKG machine, or other various tools. 3.5 IV Minigame, a more specific minigame in relation to checkups could be the insertion of an IV where you could use a timing minigame to insert an IV, if you fail, then the patient could lose a few HP depending on the severity of the miss. Note for all minigames: These minigames will also require some patient engagement, as sitting there isn't fun, so if possible something for them as well something could be created for the patient to participate, or be involved directly in the minigame. As maybe the patient has to control their breathing to give the medic a better chance at succeeding the minigames. Lore: No direct lore references I know of. Workshop content if applicable: Require Development (If no workshop content, suggest a developer or put "Require Development") Current: None Former: Senior Admin | Chief Medical Officer / Royce Hemlock | Naval Commander | 501st MEDO | 501st SGM

Mystic Posted January 24 Developer Posted January 24 Add Operation to Synergy On a real note, do you feel this will take away a majority of Medical Roleplay? Roleplay seems scarce as is, and this seems like one more way to remove it. This is a genuine question as a player, not as a developer, so take this at face value and not anything deeper. I'm curious on the communities RP approach. I will agree that this may decrease actual /me action and rolling RP. Though, as you said, RP is scarce, and to be completely honest, I've never seen a proper surgery done for the sake of it. My goal with this suggestion to potentially increase the engagement and fun the medical branch can provide. As this is a suggestion, the community as a whole can share their opinions on if these systems would be beneficial to MED. I personally know people who have said they join MED purely for the tools it provides, not to engage in anything else like RP. I hope if these systems are implemented, then MED won't just be that way. And in the end, this doesn't eliminate the normal MED RP, it simply provides an alternative. My exact thoughts reading this, massive +1. I don't see an issue with adding various minigames to most of the common RP elements in the server, especially if it were scripted into these minigames to drop random, roleplay relevant /me's or /it's based on your progress/mistakes/completion of said minigames. And at the end of the day, doing the same old personal /me /roll roleplay is still there and still an option. Former - Improcco XO MEDO Fi

Soda Posted January 26 Posted January 26 +1 I think this would be amazing to add to medical RP, especially the creation of the cure. Cure creation is already a boring, repetitive process with so many steps that it's hard to even remember them in order, at times, without looking at the doc. I think if we were able to get cure creation and a surgical mini-game added, those two would add even more appeal to actually doing medical RP, as well as simplify the training.

Joshua Posted January 26 Posted January 26 +1 for sure. I don't mind Medical rp and /me rp at all. The only thing that bothers me quite a lot is the randomness of rolling. Yes shit can go wrong during a surgery, but it sometimes happens that people get constant L's during their rolls which would realistically kill the patient at some point. Leaving /me rp for check-ups I am fine with, but I'd love to see big minigames for Cure-Creating or certain surgeries

Dole Posted January 28 Posted January 28 This has my support in it. Ducky is cooking. And you dont have to do the mini game if you dont want to. It can spice things up a lot for the Medical rp. And while I love medical rp and want to share it with more and more people, this might help in making it a little less boring than the pure /me actions, and honestly I think that i need to do some things to help increase the quality of the med rp, this is a great way to keep medics "tuned in" so to speak instead of just going through the motions. This has the potential to be great. +1 all the way.
