GRAYOUT Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Name: Grayout RP Rank: Warrant Officer Suggestion: IR minigame Swep Implementation: Create and add a IR minigame Swep to for SOBDE Lore: SOBDE can use a lie detector within a Interrogation, a swep would make this more interesting and useful to RP. Workshop content if applicable:IR minigame swep [Requires development] (If no workshop content, suggest a developer or put "Require Development") If you are asking to add or change a job, fill out the following if not, leave it out. Add or Change: Create and give SOBDE a IR minigame Swep (Any job modification requires all this information) Jobs: Kal, Niner, Fi, Atin, Darman, Boss, Fixer, Scorch, Sev, Ordo, Kom'rk, Jaing, Prudii, Mereel, A'den, Hunter, Echo, Crosshair, Tech, Wrecker, Bardan, Arligan Zey Slots: 1 Description: The swep can be used by both parties,it would be some sort of minigame. It would appear as a way more interactive thing that would provide a reason to do the lie detector. It brings more RP ability than just rolling. A GM would be allowed to pre setup for the swep so if the person being interrogated fails the minigame then the GM can have them lean into telling the truth, or vice versa. Model: (Provide the model string if on server Ex. models/synergy_roleplay/trooper.mdl (Get this from the Q menu) Weapons: (If you want a modfication to a weapon/saber you must put the weapon string in the suggestion. If the person being interrogated wins the lie gets a pass. If the Interrogator wins the lie does not pass. It's a way more interactive way than just rolling. 9 minutes ago, Marvel said: This. Marvel Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 I’ve been trying to think of ways a mini game could even be implemented into interrogation but honestly I can’t think of anything when all it really is at the and of the day is questioning and answering. I tried to look up example of interrogations in other games and see if there were any sort of mini games out there already. Best I could see were meters that would fill over time the represented different things like anxiety, fear, etc. Something like that could be interesting. As one of the original creators of IR today I can 100% say the rolling aspect was completely created around the torture aspect of IR because back in the day everyone was extremely edgy so cutting off people’s limbs and shit was common. Quite frankly looking back at it today I think that direction was a mistake. The rolling aspect of IR absolute blows and is what makes IR so bland imo. (Rolling in general sucks) I can understand the want to replace that with a minigame. I don’t consider that aspect of IR to be RP focused anyways. The actual dialogue between players is the RP. You can’t put a minigame over that. Torture should be the last resort imo unless your somebody like Jaing, Sev, etc. I know I’m yapping but maybe a feature that shows how afraid or anxious the person you’re interrogating is would be cool. Just needs to be fleshed out. 1

Conrad Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 I can’t think of a way a mini game doesn’t actually reduce the amount of RP that happeneds. IR is like the only type of /me RP that is against another person, and the /me stuff is secondary to the talking/communication/threats/negotiating. everything else is vs an inanimate object or someone passed out (med, eod, eng, tech) -1 1 C

The original idea was the Swep to active a minigame for the interrogator and the person being interrogated. When the person being interrogated was trying to lie about something, they’d active the swep and perform an action against the interrogators Swep to see if they pass. A placeholder idea was both individuals tracing lines from a lie detector, whoever followed it the best “wins”. If the interrogator wins they’d know the person is lying. If the prisoner wins, they’d get away with the lie. After both mini games complete, it would put a message in local chat saying the score for both. Consider it like a mini data pad with snake, both players go head to head, and whoever wins “passes”. The swep is better than rolling because it gives a concept that SOBDE members can practice and work on while most prisoners wouldn’t. Naturally, SOBDE would be better at picking up on lies and the lie detector would help out even more. A seasoned event job or a long practicing hunter may be able to get away with a lie based on their experience. If the person being interrogated wasn’t trying to lie, they wouldn’t use it, and if the SWEP is used SOBDE wouldn’t meta game knowing that they’re trying to lie and cover it up. With continued use, the process would be smooth and it wouldn’t interrupt RP as much. SOBDE has a “process” for using a lie detector (RP device) now but it is NEVER used due to how complicated it can be. At the moment, IR struggles from a lack of communication with the GM and the EJ. There are plenty of times where SOBDE is interrogating someone and the EJ has to pause RP to ask the GM questions, or sometimes the situation just de-rails. Sometimes an EJ likes to get a bit cocky and try and power game his way through lies or his story and the interrogator is unaware due to the one-sided nature of IR. The purpose of this would be to remove situations like that in the future. Hope this helps @Moose_Wundo@Conrad@Marvel and @GRAYOUTif the idea has changed significantly please correct me. 2 Kaiser Zeros Clutch

A minigame of sorts could hopefully circumvent that but GMs may have to start preparing for that outcome. (Which they should already be prepared for tbh)

The purpose of this would be to remove situations like that in the future. Hope this helps @Moose_Wundo@Conrad@Marvel and @GRAYOUTif the idea has changed significantly please correct me. 100% agree almost everytime IR goes poorly it’s due to the EJ or person being interrogated as well. A minigame of sorts could hopefully circumvent that but GMs may have to start preparing for that outcome. (Which they should already be prepared for tbh)

QuotableSkink Posted April 2, 2025 Posted April 2, 2025 -1 I can understand having bad EJs or something to make the RP not fun, but at the same time it is entirely based on if the EJ is able to RP the interrogation well or not.
