Allow GMs to set spawn on event server

Suggestion: Allow GMs to set spawn on event server

Implementation: After asking around why we don't have this really basic feature, I was told that it just wasn't allowed to be added. Noone seems to really no the reason so I can only speculate, maybe it's to incentivise people to buy tacs, which it doesn't actually do since the only person being punished by not having this feature are the GMs that have to deal with the backwards way we handle spawns atm, rather than the players who would be buying the tacs themselves, but regardless of what the initial reason was or if it will ever be revealed, I just can't think of a scenario in which the benefits of adding this don't massively outweigh any negatives, if there even are any. I highly doubt any other even semi decent swrp server doesn't have this feature, and it should be relatively easy of an implementation, so I don't see why we don't just add it to make events run a LOT smoother than the way they do now with the constant TPing that's needed (which a lot of new players don't fully understand and end up sitting in the spawn clueless before leaving, potentially forever).

I spoke to @Jad about this a few months back and the answer was a hard no as far as Nordahl's script spawner goes.

I believe the decision on this is up to him.

Do you know if it was just a no for that specific spawner or spawning in general? If it's just that one then fair enough there must be something up with it that means we can't use it but I still think it should 100% be looked into an alternative

As far as I knew GM's can just spawn in tacs for people on event server. Its a tool given considering that spawn points at static and that isn't the best thing for events. If this is no longer the case I havn't been a GM for a year now but if you still can that to me is just the solution to this problem.

We still have tac inserts but the problem is that there are times when you run certain types of events that require switching dupes out or swapping spawn points as the event progresses. I know personally I ran an event that switched dupes along the path around 4 times as they progressed and each time I had to spend 15 minutes setting tacs and everything up each time. Also setting up an event so that they automatically spawn at a specific point on the map makes the load in setup around 10 minutes faster as players would just immediately be where they need to be on load in. In general this would just be a boon for the gm team on the Event Server if we could utilize some type of set spawn tool other than a tac insertion.

Exactly this, plus there's always people who join late, don't pay attention, etc. and end up getting left out in some way or another because spawn setting is so relatively complicated atm, if we could set player spawn points universally, even for specific battalions in some situations if possible, it would 100% make event set up and running so much smoother
