Coal's BCMD Doom Application

Steam Name:

[SR] Coal

RP Name:

Havoc Squad Commander Tiplee

RP Rank:

LTC / Knight I

Steam ID:

Battalion or squad you are applying for:

Doom’s Unit

Experience:

Jedi Lead / Tiplee:

One of the main and most important positions I have at the current moment is being the Jedi Lead for Doom’s Unit. As Jedi Lead, I have to encounter many similar endeavors that a Battalion Commander would have but on a smaller scale. I know that being Jedi Lead may not be quite the same as being a BCMD, but I think that it has some similarities. Some of these would be checking that everyone is remaining and keeping up their activity, making sure that they are not minging, and making sure that they are participating within the battalion. Additionally, I have updated the rank transfers alongside the prior Commander Doom and tried to make it feel like whenever a new DU Jedi came into the battalion, they would feel like their knight rank mattered. As Jedi Lead, I have on top of that, built a new Jedi Trial dupe, revised the doc, and made a new trial. The new trial I made, I tried to make it more fun and more involved by adding more RP. If I were to become Doom, I would have to find a new Jedi Lead in which I will make sure they will make a nice fit and I am looking forward to working with them and any other future endeavors that DU Jedi has.

Intel:

As an intel member in the Doom’s Unit, I have learned how the policies and how the DU roster works which would help me in my endeavors as Commander Doom. Intel has also taught me to use any rosters in general and to control promotions and other things such as that. I also have experience with logging blacklists and resignations.

MEDO:

During my time as a MEDO in 104th, I have trained several people regarding BMed and encouraged them to get interested in the Medical branch, telling them how they can roleplay however they want and introducing how much fun you can make it. However, I later learned that MedRP wasn’t for me because  as usual, I would find that when other people are in MedRP they find it boring, and I would know because I feel the same way sometimes, so I resigned from MEDO and joined the ARF branch. As I am not a MEDO anymore, I hope the Med Branch becomes more prevalent and more fun by the current leaders and people of the Med branch.

Shadow Manager:

When I was a Shadow Manager, which is essentially the people who host trials for the Shadow branch. I had recruited many people as a Shadow and hosted trials often and I demonstrated to them how the Shadows were like and how they worked. Unfortunately, I resigned from the position in order to undertake my tasks as Jedi Lead in the Doom’s Unit.

Staff:

I am currently a Senior Admin within Synergy Clone Wars RP, in which I have tried to take tickets whenever I can so that people aren’t waiting for whatever they require. Along with that, I may not be the most significant trainer, but I do try to train any Clone Cadets whenever I am available, minge or not. Including that, I have also recently obtained Staff of the Month and GH of the week in which I have made several decently rated encounters.

Havoc Squad Jedi:

Not too long ago I have applied for Havoc Squad Jedi in which I was accepted. I haven’t been one for relatively too long but for the time I have been an HS Jedi I have done some trainings and events alongside the rest of the Havoc Squad. Furthermore, I have assisted with Havoc Squad tryouts and I am the only HS Jedi at the current moment. I am looking forward to seeing more HS Jedi and improving it all together.

DU JEDI CSM-LTC:

At the current moment, I am a Lieutenant Colonel as a DU Jedi within the battalion. My duties are similar to a normal DU Senior Officer in which I make sure the regular officers are performing their jobs and duties themselves. One of the primary things I am right now is that I am the Liaison for Senators in which I have to think up a new roleplay scenario between the Doom’s Unit and the senators and make an entertainment for the battalion to participate in.

Why should you become a Battalion Commander?:

Whenever I ask myself whether or not I should be a Battalion Commander, I find myself thinking I am ready for the position. I find myself being very likable and very approachable, which will encourage people to come to me for help and other things such as that which a BCMD should be doing. Along with that, I have the experience I would find similar to being a BCMD from my time as a Jedi Lead, but not quite. Additionally, I believe I am very active on the server on which I am on almost every day, and I find activity one of the most important things that a Battalion Commander should have. I may not have as much experience as some other people, but I also have good relations with the commanders and XO of the battalion which will definitely support me throughout my time as BCMD. Moreover, I think an important quality that I have is that I can be funny which when we are doing things that aren’t really serious I can help build bonds with the people in the battalion, like Game Nights. I am also a GH, thinking about applying to be a GM soon, I can host DU-specific encounters/events or maybe one day work with someone else and execute a Ringo Vinda event. I also care about other people’s opinions so whenever it comes to making a decision, I will go to the rest of the battalion about it as a suggestion or discuss it with them.

Do you understand the lore of your battalion or squad?:

Yes

Availability:

The most likely time I will be available is between 5:00pm-11:pm EST, sometimes earlier, sometimes later. That is just the general time I am on

Estimate of how long you've played on Synergy Roleplay?:

Around 710 hours

Do you have a microphone?:

Yes

Where do you want your battalion or squad to be at the end of your term?:

Activity - In regards to the activity within the battalion, at the end of my term, I want the activity to be in a much better state than it is now. I want to see people participating in innovative trainings and events and see everyone having fun together within the Doom’s Unit.

Officer Core - When it comes to the Officer Core, I don’t want people to be forced to become an officer ( Which is how it is right now. ) I would like to see officers encouraging the NCOs to do trainings and such, making sure that everything is running properly. Along with that, I want to make sure that the Officers within the battalion are role models to the NCOs and enlisted, making sure that they are on their best behavior but still be able to have fun. I also don’t want them to resort straight to PT whenever someone messes up whenever there are no Disciplinary Lead or Officers on.

NCO Core - At the end of my term, I would like to see an active NCO team that not only makes fun trainings, are good event leads, but most importantly, has fun within the Doom’s Unit. I find that the NCOs have a considerable responsibility with keeping the activity up within the battalion. In my opinion, everyone can take part in making sure that the battalion is up and running especially when they are the people that usually do the recruitments and the trainings. One of the ways that I believe could increase the desire for NCOs to do things such as recruitments, and trainings is giving credits which is the system that many other battalions possess and the same with Doom’s Unit, but I think what can add more incentive to recruiting, is just simply telling them that they are doing a good job. In my opinion, giving compliments to people who are achieving good work will make them want to do more, and other people will see that the said person is getting complimented for doing work, so they are going to want to do the same, at least that is what I believe would be the case. There is no harm in telling someone that their work is good.

Trainings - I find trainings one of the most significant things that one can most frequently do for a battalion. From what I have discovered, the more innovative, creative trainings there are in which people are able to learn from, the more active people will be, and the more they will want to be on, as trainings are a valuable thing to keep people on when there is nothing going on in regards to events.

Recruitment - Also, recruitment is one of and probably the most important things that one can do. It introduces new people within the battalion which can then get promoted and start recruiting themselves and gain more people to be active within the battalion and have fun. The more people in a battalion, the more people can hang out and participate in activities on the server.

Communication - When it comes to Communication in the battalion, I want the NCOs and the enlisted to be able to talk to the Officers if they find anything wrong or anything that they find that should be fixed. I want the officers to encourage the others so that they can talk to them because I want the NCOs and enlisted to feel safe talking to officers. If this is not the case, then whatever their problem is will most likely be unaddressed or fixed. At the end of my term, I want to make sure this is the case.

Do you understand that if you go inactive that you will be removed from your position?:

Yes

Do you understand that your position has a three month term limit and you must reapply after three months to maintain your commander rank?:

Yes

i would say that the other applicant does have better leadership capabilities than you due to experience. The one thing you have, which to me is very important,  is your dedication and how you care  about DU. I think with the willingness to learn and a good command structure, you would do fine. Squee and willy will definitely let you know if you are doing something wrong. Good luck +1

Coal, I’m pretty familiar with you from my days back in DU. I think you have the character to be a good leader and I think you’re a good person all around.

However, I have a serious problem with Jedi in a battalion going for a BCMD position unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. Jedi simply do not have the same sway or experiences as clones, and don’t work their way up from the bottom like troopers do. Slak was able to get away with this 5 months ago because there were 7 people in the battalion and no one else wanted to run. Right now, there are at least 5 qualified people that can run.

Additionally, your application is very cookie-cutter. You’ve not talked at all about what novel things you bring to the table that will help DU. You vaguely mention the problems you see with the battalion, and say that “more” (amount wise) needs to be done in terms of trainings and recruitment. These are ver standard and shouldn’t have to be mentioned in the app unless you have a unique solution.

What do you bring to the table that makes you fit for BCMD? What do you actually want to do in the position to address the very real and serious problems in the battalion currently?

How are you planning to make the NCO's do Innovative trainings? Are you thinking about writing documents with examples or something else?

What I was thinking is that the NCOs could learn and watch from the Officer Trainings as most likely, the officers know how to make trainings such as that and are able to do as such. The NCOs could take that down, like notes in their heads, and basically that will be the example of what a good training, and back to the thing you said to a document, I think what would be useful as well, is putting down the most common trainings in the NCO handbook and stating several ways they could spice it up in a sort.

The main thing that I can bring to the table is my different personality. I believe that I do in fact, have a very unique personality compared to prior Doom's and that I feel like it could freshen the atmosphere having someone with such. I find myself being an up-beat kind of person and I feel like that can reflect back on to the rest of the people of the battalion. As well, I feel like that I have the ability to be very creative when I put my mind to something, and having different ideas, discussing and refining them with other people, could might as well make a great idea that has never been done before. Not only that, if something is not working, I will keep working at it until it does, and keeping up with new and more refined techniques in order to do so.

In the position of Doom, I do believe the most important problems of the battalion is activity and trainings, and I believe I addressed what I wanted to do in regards to that, however it might be refined further. However, I did not mention an issue dealing with minging as most of it I have seen if any is usually happening within battalion, but whenever it comes to going out to the public, or getting too extreme in private/within battalion, it is taken care of by the officers and as BCMD I will make sure that the standard is upheld.

When it comes to this, I believe that this may be true in a way, but I have in my time in 104th worked my way up to 1SG, in which I later continued maining Jedi, and I had obtained the position of Tiplee. Getting this position meant joining the Doom's Unit on my Jedi and starting CSM which is also a SNCO. In my opinion, I have the experience from being an enlisted, NCO, SNCO, and currently an Officer. I have done good work for the battalion being both an Officer and a Senior Officer, and I do believe that I do have the same experiences as the clones as my duties are the same as if I were a clone. I feel like I have worked my way up from the bottom in the 104th and continued my journey as a Jedi in the Doom's Unit.

I think DU needs a real change and upbeat pattern, within your app you haven't outlined any steps or process's other than some simple, rather complacent activities. Your outline of a plan, or lack thereof, shows either an applicant disconnected from their battalion, or a general lack of interest.

I am going to have to -1, I feel as though there are much more qualified applicants who have a better grasp of inner battalion issues, and are in a better position to lead this battalion.
