TU isn’t a real subunit. It’s a shell. Players don’t join TU because they care about TU they join because it’s the only way to access regiments early. That’s it. They don’t want ARF; they want the regiment structure, the whitelist, and the gear. The second they get ARC trainings? They leave. TU might look active, but it’s not healthy activity. No one is there for TU. That’s not sustainable, and it’s not real engagement. The issue isn’t that ARF doesn’t make sense in an ARC battalion, it’s that ARC is strictly better in every way. Kit, status, access, ARC overshadows ARF completely. So why would anyone settle for less? They don’t. TU ends up being a stepping stone, not a destination. Players grind TU like it’s a tutorial and then move on. That’s not a subunit, it’s a placeholder. If we want something sustainable, we need a subunit that competes with Alpha, not one that only exists because Alpha is locked. The answer isn’t to stretch TU’s lifespan artificially. The answer is to give players a subunit that feels like an ARC-plus experience: ARC + Heavy, ARC + Medic, ARC + Recon, something with purpose, identity IN a subunit, and a reason to stay even if regiments weren’t on the table.
