  2. Remove DU, End the Meme

    Suggestion: Remove DU from roster, mention, and possibility for joining.

    Implementation: Dunno, i'm not a coder. But I do think it can't be hard to delete and remove stuff from the server. 

    Lore: DU has been sent off into the Unknown Reasons for a secret mission, it will be impossible for them to ever show in the far future.

     

    If you are asking to add or change a job, fill out the following if not, leave it out.

    Slots:  Adds more Slots for other batt. , perhaps a future one. 

    Description: Okay, so I get it. It has been a running joke for a long while now. When is DU coming back? Looking for tryouts for DU! When can we expect to see DU come back or get opened?!

    But at this point, I am willing to just suggest that we ice DU for now, as in remove it from WLs, Jobs, and models. Just get rid of it. It is a dead horse, and from what I can tell the Devs have no plan on bringing it back in the far future. I can get why. A good few battalions have been struggling with population, and it would do more harm than good to just open DU. People would flood in for slots, and it would hurt and starve other batt.

    So at this point, why not just make it easier on the Dev team, make the meme die, and just leave a slot open for something new in the far future? Maybe like 327th Star Corp or something? It would free up space, have no need for the Devs to make new models for DU, clear up confusion for new people when they see DU as a  battalion listing but nothing is coming of it. The models have not been updated, there has always been a unsatisfying answer for the return of DU, and while the server imo does have a steady population. It will never be enough for a whole new battalion to be supported without harming the healthiness of other battalions.  I think the having to deal with a document rewrite, removing DU from the training wall, and some other smaller things would not be much of the hassle.

    At this point I can say a good majority of veterans of the server can hopefully agree the removal of DU to give the community the permanent answer that No. DU is not coming back, and it is best for us to move on from it. 

    I know there might be some nostalgia for DU, I was never there but when it just sits there, when you just leave a whitelist, jobs, and models nobody uses. Why bother keeping it? Unless in this suggestion we can get a clear answer. "Hey, we DO have plans. It's not now, soon, but in the far future." Then maybe it might be worth to keep it. But if the Devs and leadership still by now have no future plans to work on the mere suggestion of DU ever coming back. I think the for the betterment of the Devs to just focus on other things than a meme.

    Reason for leaving: I thought being a Admin, then a GM would be better. But for me it wasn't. I'm for too immature to handle being of staff. As much as it was fun, and me giving it a 4th  chance... I just don't have the spark anymore. I think somebody more reasonable and more mature is far better suited  for staff than me. It was fun to entertain and amuse the server. But I'm more of an EJ than a helper. I just wished there was just a entainer role within staff, not forced to do Events or Deployments but just keeping people busy, building things. I just can't keep up with the demand and I burn out easily. Staff was never meant for me but it was fun to try one last time.

     

    I highly suggest anyone to give it a shot, but for me I cannot meet expectations and meet the guidelines.

    Farewells: To all of Staff Team, I'll be around and I'll be a reliable EJ, more serious this time than what I used to do before.

    From 1-10, what would you rate your knowledge of the Clone Wars?: 8/10
    Why do you want to join the Gamemaster team?: To host a plentiful of events and make a Seasonal Story Model that will have an overarching story, repeatable events, and overall end in a climatic finish. I also plan on keeping a constant flow of events and host more stuff during early morning/evening areas. As well as be a reliable aid for Events and Deployments! My Time Zone is CST!  On on weekdays from 3PM-8PM CST and on Weekends 7AM-12AM. I do play other games, hang out with buds, or just maybe want to take a day's worth of rest. I love building and keeping people entertained! :)

    Tell us why you want to be an administrator (6 sentence minimum): I always liked helping and entertaining people, problem is it’s hard to entertain people better with a lack of builder tools. My solution was always to be a Gamemaster but with my life and work schedule I don’t have enough time to barely keep up with the quotas. Also trying to keep active and give a 110% to my faction was always a stressful problem. I have ADHD and I always tend to push myself harder for not doing enough or doing too less! Wanting to do more for the server but not wanting to reapply for Gamemaster, I believe giving staff a shot will be a great idea! I always want to help people with their ideas or creative wishes and from personal experience it’s always nice to have somebody take the time out of their day to help somebody build a cool training dupe, make a patrol, or just spawn in something. It was always a Gamemaster rule I broke was helping people with other tickets, I just felt bad most of the time seeing that ticket go unanswered as a GM!

    Being in staff will be a great step in me to do more for the server and in a way help Naval grow to be even better entertainers! Down time on the server frustrates players and while I cannot help during the weekdays in the mornings (Mon-Fri 6AM-2:30PM CST) but later hours on weekends I wish to help around and entertain! I don’t know how different or harder staff is but from what I’ve heard getting tickets is not hard!

    Tell us a little about yourself (3 sentence minimum): I go by HAL but as somebody once said I have a personality disorder (I go by many names). I’m 22, live in America! 

    I started gaming when I was no older than 6, playing on my GameCube and 100% Lego Star Wars as a young child and ruining my father’s K/D ratio in Halo 3. I was never a PC gamer until some time ago, and I had always wanted to play Gmod! While sandbox was fun, I saw there was RP servers and joined up here on my third server search (luckily this was my first star wars RP!) This server was very welcoming and enjoyable to be in! (Still is now.)

    I’m an video editor and make pretty tasty memes, I also used my editing skills to make some video projects for the server! (Season of the Gunrunner and some video memes). I love editing and have my YouTube channel that I barely upload anymore (content block because I think my ideas are dumb sometimes :P)

    Do you have any previous staff experience? If yes, please elaborate on what you have accomplished: Yes! I had been a Gamemaster a few times! However as stated I felt like I did not do a great enough job and the stress of keeping up three events, trying to host a Deployment, my job, my dedication to my battalion brought a lot of mental stress the last time I was a GM. I however felt like I did try to do more for the Gamemaster team, and that my time was not fully a waste but rather it was something I was pushing to hard to do and going overboard trying to make every event feel different. I have been told Gamemaster and the Staff are not the same.

    I improperly  left with putting in a resignation form and I felt bad a regretted it. I have no excuses taking the time to fill out a simple form!

    How many hours of in game time do you currently have on our Clone Wars server?: Over 400+ hours I believe!

    Thank you for this! It is good to hear despite the rough and rushed gameplay due to having to adapt to a different  playstyle, I saw the a good chunk of players were just standing or running around base. So I tried to give them something to do. 

    All I can say is that I will double check for events and population to better myself for the next event

     

  23. Farewell Boston

    Boston has decided to hang his apron, and put away his cooking ware. 

    Due to personal reasons, he has chose on his own volition to leave the server to deal with personal matters. He was a well known member to the community, a humorous person, and did kitchen/mess hall RP like no other. 
    We all had our interactions with Boston, and he chose to be a CT ever since joined, never once joined a battalion.

    He was a genuinely a nice person, a one of creative ideas and who only wanted to bring fun to the server. While he is gone, it is not certain if he will come back but it is not a never. Until then, the server has lost one of the best.

    Goodbye Boston....
