Game Freezing on Joining

My game freezes on downloading addons when connecting to server. I have tried to manually add the addons via gmad and everything but it still keeps freezing. i have 100mbps internet on this laptop and 8gb ram. It is a very old and shitty computer. its a inspiron n5050. Is there a way to fix the game freezing?

uninstall all addons and the game itself, reinstall the game and as soon as it installs, verify integrity of game Files, once that's done restart steam and load Gary's mod and try loading into server. Load straight in and don't worry about downloading content as fastDL can do it. 

this worked for me last time so if it does just let me know

Well i made progress. Now says I am missing the map
