Add numbers to the comm rays and use /comms to report the status of the ray. Example: /comms Comms Ray [# ][ Status ] [ Problem with comm ray if needed]. Implementation: passive/Event RP. Just to give engineers something to do, I think we don't do enough RP in our spare time.
