The republic sent a bunch of forces to go recapture the outpost. The forces recaptured the outpost and as they were about to leave a bunch of CIS ships entered orbit to make a last ditch attempt for the outpost. The forces destroyed the ships and successfully defended the outpost and got the shinies to safety.
