Jagger's Roleplay Log - (Inspired by Zahariel)

Notes: I don't know how often I can do these, but I use to do these kinds of things a bunch when I was doing Text-based roleplay.

21 BBY | Taungsday, 15th Rotation | 13:00 - Main Hangar Bay

Men were lined up in the middle of the runway in the MHB, awaiting to embark onto the LAATs inside the bay down to the planet below. Wondering glances and subtle shuffling showed the anxiety from the men. Even from the top of the LAAT, I could sense their discomfort. The new batch of troops were about to get their first taste of action; real action. They knew nothing of what the mission entailed; the briefing was as brief as can be for the 212th - Attack an enemy position and take it over for the republic. Simple yet... complicated. Even from the top of the LAAT, Oddball could see the humming vibrations of the men - like an engine warming up for hyperspace. The 2nd Airborne Company however were as tough as nails. When they marched across the men with their orange stripes, high-altitude helmets, tight chest-straps, they had all the attention. Bear led the line, seeing how he was leading the para-dropping operation for the mission. The Airborne would be jumping feet first into hell before the rest of the battalion, to secure the landing zone and begin the assault on the enemy fortress.

"I'm going to gun those clankers down before they can even process it..." exclaimed Speedy, a brash and hyperactive heavy of the 2ndAC. Behind him, Matt placed a hand on his shoulder and leaned forward, jokingly replying "Are you sure you're not going too fast, Speedy? It might get you killed one day." Speedy quickly snapped back wittily as he upholstered his Z6; "That's the point, 2ndLT. Speed is key. How can they kill ya if you kill them faster?"  Matt put his hands in the air and shrugged. We all knew it was a logic that worked for Speedy. Oddball shook his head, for the behavior is always the same before the mission drop. However as Oddball stepped down from the LAAT, he saw the 212th troopers looking at each other, and the tension in the air seemed to have faded. Just a comedic exchange could change the air in the ship. "If only you men joked as well as you fought, we wouldn't be having them join us..." Bear commented irradiated, as he began directing the men to embark onto the LAAT. He threw his backpack violently onto the front of the LAAT, then looked at the two 2ndAC troopers a glare of anger. Matt and Speedy looked at each other, recalling from the mission briefing who was attached to their unit to assist in the assault. On a brutally timed cue, heavy footsteps approached the 212th and 2ndAC. From the side of the hangar bay, he could see the infamous clones clipping into view. Oddball stood still, placing his hands back and his chest forward, awaiting the harrowing presences to present itself in front of them.

The air became still. Sound was stopped.  The heavily geared trooper, stacked with armor and gear from head to toe, proceeded to march past the troopers. Traditional Mandalorian T-shaped visor shining and reflecting pure as obsidian, a heavy shoulder pad with the symbol of the Mythosaur, clutching his WESTAR, advanced past the men onto the LAAT, wasting not a moment. A walking colossal of firepower. As he passed, Bear locked a death stare straight at the trooper. Oddball noticed from the corner of his visor the sheer aura of disgust coming from Bear. The NULL mounted into the LAAT, in the position behind the cockpit. He looked at Bear, challenging the obvious anger of the Parjai trooper. Clutching his fits, Bear continued to hold his stare. Oddball intervened, placing himself right in front of Bear. "Stay focused on the task at hand; we are dropping in 10." Oddball kept his head towards Bear as he turned his body to move to the LAAT, as Bear glanced over to give him his hesitant acknowledgement. "Men, fall in!" The 2ndAC troopers entered the LAAT, strapping in and double checking their parachutes. As Oddball navigated the LAAT out of the Venator "Synergy" along with the rest of the gunships, he noted the radio silence from the troops. He could sense the tension of his cargo tingling on his back. For their sake, he hoped they can use the strength of those emotions against the awaiting CIS fortress. It was a quiet trip to the planet surface.

Breaking through the atmosphere, unsurprising to the 2nd Airborne Company, are met with turbulence created by the CIS gun batteries firing from below. Oddball held tightly to the controls, instructing his co-pilot on evasive maneuvers and navigation. "Get ready boys, you're jumping into the frying pan! Redlight!" Oddball activated the blast doors of the LAAT as they began to slide open. The paratroopers' view are met with flurries of plasma bolts and clouds of smoke, with gunship casualties already beginning. The NULL kneels down to the side of the gunship, leaning out and casually looking at the droid fortress as it comes into view. Bear contemplates kicking the mandalorian while he has the chance, but he dismisses the thought and quickly turns to his men. "On my mark!" The troopers lock and load their weapons, holding their blasters on one hand while the other holds onto the safety strap of the LAAT, fingers on the 'release' handle. Oddball reaches the drop point, he notifies the troops it is time to drop. "Greenlight! You're clear to jump Airborne!" Bear turns outwards, right foot steady at the edge of the LAAT counting down. "3!...2!..-"

"Don't die on the way down, brothers." A roaring sound emerges as the NULL activates his jetpack, jumping out of the LAAT straight down towards the hellfire. Bear curses under his breath, "Blast it!" then quickly after shouts; "GO! GO! GO!" All the troopers dive off from the LAAT, falling straight for the separatist stronghold. Once the last man jumps, Oddball, brings the gunship around as he moves to the next phase of the mission. He glances down, watching the troopers becoming dots, disappearing into the fire as they take their plunge into the eye of the storm.
